Monday 4/17 - Friday 4/21 NO SCHOOL - APRIL VACATION

It is an exciting time for the 24 kids from RSU 22 who won the 2023 Maine Scholastic Team Chess Championships on March 11! In less than one month, 14 students from Reeds Brook Middle School will represent the State of Maine at the U.S. Chess Federation 2023 National Middle School (K-8) Championship, from April 21-23 in Round Rock, Texas. Just three weeks later, 10 students from George B. Weatherbee Elementary School will follow suit at the 2023 National Elementary (K-6) Championship from May 12-14 in Baltimore, Maryland.

The teams have set up fundraisers in an effort to ensure every player on both teams can attend this incredible event. If you would like to consider donating, please reach out to Mr. Bishop at dbishop@rsu22.us and he can provide you with options on how to support their efforts.

On Tuesday, March 28th, a CBS crew came to spend the day with Mr. Bishop and interview students from the Weatherbee and Reeds Brook Middle School National Chess Teams. Students and staff alike were excited to meet someone "famous". Steven Hartman was fantastic and our students were even better!

The feature is anticipated to air on Friday, April 7th on the CBS evening news with Nora O'Donnell and then on CBS Sunday Morning on April 9th. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to Wesley Howes for his Most Improved Student award from the Portland Sea Dogs. Ms. Nightingale nominated Wes (who is an avid baseball fan) and won tickets to the Sea Dogs game in addition to his certificate.

Congratulations to Mrs. Leavitt, our Speech and Language Pathologist, for being our Courageous Crew winner for March!

Our lost and found is piling up! We have lots of hats, mittens, water bottles and miscellaneous clothing. If your child is missing something, please come check it out or have them come to the office and we can help them. All remaining items will be donated during April vacation.
