Green Card Voices is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization that utilizes digital storytelling to share personal narratives of America’s immigrants, fostering tolerance and establishing a better understanding between the immigrant and non-immigrant populations. Our dynamic, video-based platform is designed to empower a variety of educational institutions, community groups and individuals alike to acquire first-person perspective about immigrants’ lives, increasing the appreciation of the immigrant experience in America. This project features 30 stories of immigrant youth from 16 countries, told in their own words, who attend Rochester City School District’s Bilingual Language and Literacy Academy, Brighton Twelve Corners Middle School, Brighton High School, Buffalo Public Schools’ Lafayette Newcomer Academy and Lafayette International Community High School. This project could not have come to fruition without the help and support of the teachers and administrators from these districts and the volunteer work of students from SUNY Brockport and SUNY Baruch College.
