Should the U.S. build more nuclear plants?
Should the U.S. build more nuclear power plants?
Nuclear power plants are important because they provide the U.S. with most of its energy which people need to survive. There are over 430 nuclear power plants in the world, which 104 of them are in the U.S. Of the 28 accidents that have happened since the 1950s only 7 of them were in the U.S. Although that seems like pretty good odds, most of these accidents are severe and affect the environment in a bad way. These accidents ruin the plant life and the animal population in a very large area for a very long time. Humans that live in these areas can sometimes die, develop severe side effects, or have children with serious birth effects. I believe that we need the power plants that we already have, but the risks are not worth it to build new ones.
Candidate Romney is calling for the expansion of U.S. nuclear energy production.
Obama is also calling for expansion of U.S. nuclear energy production. Both Mitt Romney and Barrack Obama have the same idea.
