Upcoming Events

Uniform Contracts - PAST DUE

All uniform contracts are past due. Please return uniform contracts and payments to Mrs. Niosi and Mrs. Martyak.

Air out band jackets and ensure they are safely hung on the large black hanger.

Sweat collars should be removed from the inside top of the jacket and washed by hand with dish soap.

White gloves can also be washed by hand with dish soap and hung to dry.

If your band jacket or black pants are wrinkled, please carefully use a steamer.

All black pants should be hung on the hanger by first matching up the bottom of the pants ensuring the creases are on the outside corners.

All students were also asked to write their initials on the inside of their white band shoes.

Canteen Snacks Donations Needed

Now that school is back in full swing, we need to restock the canteen with healthy snack choices for the kids during rehearsals. The signup genius has full details of what items and quantities are needed. As a reminder, all items must be individually wrapped, and we can't accept any peanut butter items. Chips and cookies are also not able to be used for snacks.

REHEARSAL TIME CHANGES/ ADDITIONS

Please note the following changes that have been made to our September schedule:


MB Rehearsals (Week of 9/13):

Tuesday (9/14) will now be a 6 - 8 PM rehearsal & Thursday (9/16) will now be a 3 - 5 PM rehearsal. This is to accommodate having 8th grade students come to rehearse with us in preparation for 8th grade band night.

The previous schedule had Thursday as the evening practice. This conflicted with the EAMS Open House.


Percussion/ Guard Sectionals:

In preparation for completing our show and beginning our festival performances, we have added TWO percussion & guard sectionals. These sectionals will take place on:

Monday, September 20


For both dates, rehearsal will be from 5:30 - 8:00 PM.

Jacket Sale

Orders can be placed beginning Monday 8/30 through Friday 9/17. Orders are due no later than September 17, 2021. To order, you can use the attached order form or check back on the IMA website (www.eahsmusic.org) later this week to order online. Marching Band Uniform Pillows

We present the best way to honor our current and past marching band students by providing the opportunity to own a piece of our history! We have created pillows using the uniforms that were worn from 2000 to 2020. This is a perfect graduation gift or holiday gift for any individuals that have or are currently paving the way for the “Beast from the East!” There is a limited stock available and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. This fundraiser benefits the Instrumental Music Program and will be completed in time for the holidays!

Calling all volunteers!

As we prepare for the upcoming year, we are looking for volunteers to help at various events! In order to do this, clearances need to be on file with EASD.

To do this, please view our website with step-by-step information on how to go about obtaining these.


Please be sure to also complete & return the volunteer form found under the strings camp/ band camp information sections of this newsletter. This form will also be mailed out in mid-July.

Additionally, if you are interested in serving as a nurse for the band during band camp & football games, please reach out to our medical coordinator, Mrs. Ferretti, at medicalrecords@eahsmusic.org.

Uniform Update: DRY CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS


It is the responsibility of each band member to keep his or her uniform clean and in excellent condition.

It is important that the band present an excellent appearance at ALL times.


Uniforms are to be DRY CLEANED ONLY.


The white sweat collars inside the Band Jacket, Honor Guard Jacket, and Drum Major Jacket should be removed and hand washed after each performance. Do not use bleach. White gloves are to be worn at each performance. These can be machine-washed and hung to dry. Additional pairs of gloves can be purchased for $3.00.


We have selected Lehigh Valley Dry Cleaners who can guarantee us that the whites will stay white and not turn gray. EVERYONE MUST USE THIS DRY CLEANER.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

SASHES: Use a professional dry cleaner; do not use steam or press.

Please note: only take the sashes to the dry cleaner when they are dirty. This will prolong the life of the sash. You may spot clean sashes with Ivory soap and water.

BLACK PANTS: Make sure to properly hang pants after each performance. DO NOT IRON!

PMEA D10 Band & Orchestra Auditions

Solo lists for the 2021 - 2022 PMEA District festivals have been released.

Auditions take place on Saturday, December 04, 2021. To view the solo lists & see more information about the requirements, please visit the PMEA D10 website.

Orchestra Uniform Volunteers Needed

Uniform fittings for Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Strings, and Jazz Band will occur on Sept. 8, 9, 13, and 15 from 5:30-8:30pm and Sept. 18 from 10am-2pm.

We need some volunteers to assist!

We will be fitting about 160 students for gowns and tuxes.

No experience or sewing expertise are required to help out, but your volunteer clearances are.

This year, we are using a platform called the "band" app to communicate. This is a supplement to our emails sent out weekly.


The advantages of this app include:

Easton Area High School Instrumental Music

The Easton Area High School (EAHS) Instrumental Music Program has a long history of success. The program consists of nearly 380 students in grades 9 – 12 and encompasses marching band, three concert bands, three orchestras, two jazz ensembles, pep band, and pit orchestra.
