Why Instrumental Music??
There are so many success stories about students who lack confidence or feel socially awkward who join the school music program(s) and it turns their whole life around! Read this great article about the power and purpose of music education. An oboe student is mentioned in the introduction: “Her dad, who carried his own scars of social awkwardness, told [the author] he doubted whether his daughter would pursue the oboe past high school, but the lessons she learned and supports she enjoyed as a “bandie” were alone worth the cost of the instrument. The musical literacy she cultivated – the knowledge and skills – was just gravy.”
