National Day of Character
Wednesday, September 29th was National Day of Character. Knight celebrated character education by having staff nominate students to be recognized for consistently demonstrating one of our core values: Respect, Responsibility, Service, Perseverance, Empathy, Citizenship, and Teamwork.
We will be mailing out Core Value postcards so that the families of our Shining Knights can celebrate together.

Respect
Mrs. Leipow nominated this kindergartner for always listening and following directions. He always makes good choices to work quietly and does his best work.
Teamwork
Ms. Forrest nominated this kindergartner for being a bright light in their classroom - always smiling, helping others, and cheering on his classmates!
Empathy
Mrs. Johnson nominated this kindergartner because she shows empathy to her classmates. One example is when she saw a classmate sitting on the swing and asked the classmate if they would like her to push them.
Service
Mrs. Rickansrud nominated this service-minded kindergartner because he helped to clean up our playground before school started.
Responsibility
Miss Rodriguez nominated this 1st grader for being responsible. She's always the first student ready to learn and a leader to her classmates.
Respect
Mrs. Marchetty nominated this first grader for showing respect every day. He raises his hand, follows all the class rules, and gives his best effort.

Miss McAllister nominated this 2nd grader for being kind, polite, and respectful to all.
Perseverance
Ms. Haine nominated this 2nd grader because she has proven to be the picture of perseverance! Her focus, dedication, and positivity are outstanding.

Mrs. Katsikis nominated this 2nd grader because of how kind and helpful she was to a new student. Addie made the new student feel cared for and special. She is always polite and respectful to all.
Citizenship
Mrs. Sierra and Mrs. Atkinson nominated this 2nd grader for being kind, responsible, and caring. She demonstrates good citizenship every single day!
Effort
Mrs. Massie and Mrs. Bergstrom nominated this 3rd grader. He has done an excellent job following classroom routines, completing work with great effort, and showing kindness towards others.
Empathy
Mrs. Bryson nominated this wonderful 3rd grdaer for consistently showing empathy toward her classmates.
Citizenship
Mr. Helgeson nominated this 3rd grader because he always shows good character. He is kind, caring, and responsible. His actions inspire others to want to be better.
Service
Ms. Pao sees how this 4th grader always goes above and beyond to lend a helping hand. She helps to sweep the classroom floor and assists classmates whenever they are in need.
Respect
Ms. Espina, Knight's art teacher, recognizes and celebrates this 3rd grader for being a respectful member of the ARK Family! She is considerate of others by raising her hand to share and thoughtfully listens to her classmates and teachers when they're speaking.
Effort
Mrs. Foley, Ms. Rosenfeld, and Miss Miller recognize this 5th grader for always giving her best effort which leads to high-quality work.

Mrs. Guy recognized this 5th grader for putting forth his best effort to get to school on time and be ready to learn right from the start of the day.
Responsibility
Mrs. Foley, Ms. Rosenfeld, and Miss Miller recognize this 5th grader for being responsible. She is always on time, completes all of her work to the best of her abilities, and stays positive.

Mrs. Morocco and Ms. Sullivan see this 4th grader as a kind and compassionate young lady who embodies positive leadership qualities. She is kind and has a terrific attitude! She works hard and puts forth her best effort in all that she undertakes.

Ms. Doyle wants to recognize this 5th grader for giving an effort to use his voice in music class. She is proud of how much he has grown over the years.

Mrs. Giordano nominated this 4th grader for always following directions and putting forth her best effort. Breslin goes above and beyond to follow classroom routines and makes sure that things run smoothly.
