Sun Terrace Elementary Newsletter
Sunset on October
The second full month of distance learning continued with seamless ease. Fewer families expressed technical difficulties than in September. Many teachers noted perfect attendance to zooms and increased engagement while students were in class. However, many teachers also noted the need for improvement in work turned in. Thank you, in advance Sun Terrace families, for helping your children turn in work in a timely manner.
CEP students continue to make progress in DRA assessments. One teacher noted that scores have even improved from the assessment given prior to March shelter-in-place! It has been noted that De’Ondreai takes the initiative to complete his work for his grade level teacher’s assignments, excuses himself to attend his math support zoom, then promptly returns to finish up his class’ closing circle and check out.
English Learner Proficiency Assessment for California testing continued from the Spring. Due to time constraints and the challenge of Distance Learning assessments, 4th grade students who began testing in the spring finished. Other grade levels will continue to be tested as schools phase in reopening next year.
Teachers held Parent conferences October 19-30. One teacher noted the zoom platform was ideal for scheduling a time that was easiest for families’ schedules. Parents/guardians, if you missed your conference, teachers will be reaching out to you.
Finally, Marcella Bustamante was elected as PTA President. As her board of elected officers is finalized, look for more activities to engage Sun Terrace families and teachers throughout the school year!
