NEW End of Day Procedures
As much as we enjoy seeing your children before they leave school, it is time for a change. The office will no longer be their meeting place before walking home.
Students that need to meet their K-2 brothers, sisters, cousins or friends must start meeting them in the gym, just like parents do. Older students meeting younger students must meet their K-2 teachers, make eye contact or exchange a few words just as if they are a parent.
3rd – 5th grade students will need to meet their peers outside under the front porch.
All teachers know about the change. The new plan starts Monday, September 24th.
Please discuss the change with your child/children so they know about it and are prepared on Monday, September 24th. We have spoken to the students who regularly meet in the office.
Thank you for understanding, and if you have any questions, please just ask!
Fall Conferences October 8-10
Dear Trillium Creek Families:
The West Linn-Wilsonville subtracts two instructional days from the academic calendar each fall, and again in the spring, for parent/teacher conferences. Because we value the opportunity for teachers, parents and students to discuss progress, create goals, and celebrate success in a meeting format, the district has set aside October 10 and 11, 2018 for conferences. To allow for the many parents that work during school hours, the staff at Trillium Creek has chosen to exchange the October 11 date for two 4 hour evenings on October 8 and 9. Our parent/teacher conference schedule is below. Please do your best to schedule your conference within these times. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. The conference schedule will be released on September 28 at 6:00 PM.
TCPS Fall Conference Schedule October 8-10
*Approximate Agreed Upon Hours*
Monday After school until 7 PM
Tuesday After school until 7 PM
Wednesday 8 AM-3PM
We look forward to meeting with each family to get to know the thoughts about each child as learners and as developing individuals. During the conferences, we will set goals and make supportive agreements about ways both parents and teachers will help our students be successful at school.
Thank you,
Jim Mangan

Frequently Asked Questions about Head Lice
How do I get ride of head lice when our family is affected?
The best attack is to check every one in the family at the same time to be sure all affected individuals receive treatment.
If you chose to use lice treatment products, use them only as directed. These are strong insecticides and should not be misused.
The eggs are difficult to see and remove if you are unfamiliar with them. They are the size of a sesame seed and contain live lice larvae. When the nit hatches, a new louse is now on the move and eating. Their heat and food source is on the scalp. Within one week they are mature enough to reproduce and the cycle continues.
Vacuuming is also a very important factor. If the louse has crawled onto the bed or furniture, it can stay alive without a food source for 24 hours. You must vacuum all of the upholstery in the home, the beds, carpets, and car before anyone else sits on them to prevent spread in the household.
Laundry is also important. Any clothes that have been worn or touched by clothes of the affected person must be washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer to kill active lice you can put all of the laundry in trash bags, seal them tight, store them outside of the house and wash them when you get to them.
When can my child return to school after having head lice?
They can return when they are bug free (which is the recommendation of the CDC, Harvard School of Public Health, American Academy of Pediatrics, National Association of School Nurses, and Oregon Health Department). Please come with your student to school upon their return and one of the trained school staff will check them prior to their return to the classroom. We will check again on Day 7 and Day 14.
Do I need to notify the school when my child gets head lice?
Yes. That is the only way we can help you to stop the problem quickly and to check any other contacts when appropriate to do so.
News from the PTA.....
*Don’t forget to donate to the PTA Annual Fund! Rather than asking our children to sell products throughout the year, the PTA asks that each family makes a donation to the fund. Any amount helps! The money goes towards funding programs like science and supplies, computer equipment, technology, visiting authors/musicians, leadership programs, and much much more! You can donate online at www.trilliumcreekpta.org or by filling out the pink sheet in your welcome packet. Donate today!

We are hosting a meet and greet on Thursday, September 27th at 6:30pm at the West Linn-Wilsonville District Office. Meet other reps and learn what being a MAP rep is all about. Please contact Jenny Evers at jennylevers@yahoo.com if you have questions.
Art Literacy is Coming Soon
Art Literacy is getting a new look! We are working hard to reshape our Art Literacy curriculum based on teacher, student and parent feedback to ensure that we are providing the best quality program possible for our students. That will include providing separate grade level appropriate presentations for each age group directly tied to aspects of our campus curriculum and culture. This year’s “All School Activity” will focus on the art of children’s book author Mo Willems! We are excited to help our students create stories and illustrations in the style of Willems during the month of October.
BUT…we can’t do it alone! In order to ensure the consistency of the curriculum across grade level classrooms and reduce the burden on our teachers, we will be asking for several grade level representatives to serve as “Lead Volunteers” throughout the year. Please look for opportunities coming through Help Counter in the coming weeks. The success of our program depends on the continued strong support of parent volunteers.
Counselor Connection
I’m Ms. Ramos and I’m the new school counselor. I work closely with staff, families, and all students to support students in academic, social, and emotional learning. I have been into all classrooms at TCPS to introduce myself to students and to clarify the role of the school counselor. I support students in solving problems regarding family transitions, social skills, emotional regulation and more through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual check ins. Also, I help connect families with resources for food, clothing, school supplies and more. If you are in need of resources and/or you would like to contact me here is my information: by email to: ramosc@wlwv.k12.or.us and by phone: 503-673-7957.
