Week 7 @ Puketapu

This week was a super short week with Taranaki Anniversary on Monday and NZEI Industrial Action - Teachers Strike on Thursday. A great chance for our tamariki to rest and recharge.

You may have heard our school fire alarm on Wednesday afternoon. Some baking was cooked a little bit longer than it needed to be, however it was a great practice run for our kura. Our tamariki and kaiako did an amazing job of exiting their areas calmly and quickly. They then lined up in our emergency evacuation area by the netball/basketball courts and waited patiently for the alarm to stop and the all clear to be given. Great work everyone!

This is our second fire alarm in a few weeks and it is great to see the community checking on our school. Please remember, if the fire alarm goes off it will continue to sound until the Fire Brigade arrives and checks all is clear to then turn it off. If it is during school time please do not come and collect your children early as we will want to make sure all children are accounted for. If out of school time, our wonderful Caretaker Mr Quince will already have been notified and usually makes it here before the Fire Brigade.

A perfect fire drill: everyone out, lined up and safely accounted for,

this week at school

Last Friday, Matua Brody's Kōwhai class were very lucky to be visited by All Blacks Sevens player Rhodes Featherstone.

Rhodes talked to the Kōwhai kids about his background, professional sports, values and the qualities you need to succeed. Rhodes played rippa rugby with the tamariki and signed lots of autographs! It was great meeting him!

One of our wonderful Mums Anna Fleet made these really cool rocks with our value logos on them. Her daughter Olivia Pryce's class uses them to hold and hand around while talking about the school values.

What an awesome idea. Thanks Anna!
