Commit to Health Pledge

We are very excited to report that we have taken the Commit to Health Pledge! In doing so you can expect to see our out of school time participants engaging in more physical activity, learning about good nutrition, and eating healthier snacks while in attendance at JCPRD. Commit to Health is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park and Association and The Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Our staff has worked hard to develop a new food service menu that features items that are nutrient dense, low in fat, sugar, and sodium, as well as more fresh fruits and vegetables. Please support our efforts to help students develop healthy eating habits by encouraging them to be open to trying new foods and by reinforcing the benefits of a nutritious diet. Healthy snacks and meals improve cognitive function, increase energy, and help children grow strong muscles and bones!

Inclement Weather Reminder

Winter is here! Please remember that SMSD JCPRD locations do not offer care in the event of a snow day. Please be prepared to make additional arrangements for your children.

Cold Weather

Winter weather is notorious for chapped and itchy skin. We will be providing Vaseline for lips and Aveeno lotion for skin. Please be sure to sign the permission form, insuring we can administer proper care for these problem areas.

Challenge by Choice

Starting this month, we are introducing a new to Brookwood program, called Challenge By Choice! Each child will get to choose between 2-3 activities each week they will get to participate in. Engaging activities will include STEM, Art, Music, Writing, as well as kid-made clubs. We are asking the kids to commit to at least one activity they will be accountable to attend. We are committed to making JCPRD OST programs memorable and enriching. We ask for your help in encouraging your kids to get excited about these new clubs and activities!
