NEWS FROM THE WYWLA PTSA
Last Chance for Sponsorship - PTSA Invests in Classroom Technology. The PTSA is proud to purchase a new 32" display for every WYWLA classroom. Most teachers have been making do with the tiny screens on their district-issued laptops and Chromebooks. The larger screens will let teachers see more students, and clearer images of them. In addition, each teacher will receive a $100 technology grant. Finally, PTSA is purchasing earbuds for any student that forgets or doesn't have them. The goal is to optimize distance learning.
This project is within budget. Nevertheless, PTSA invites your sponsorship. All funds raised through sponsorships will increase the amount of each teacher grant. Your donation is voluntary and tax deductible. Please consider sponsoring a pair of earbuds for $10, a teacher grant for $100, or a classroom display for $250. Thank you for your generosity. Sponsorship drive ends 1/19. Pay securely through Memberhub:

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH
Dr. Brackett, of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, wrote a book entitled, “Permission to Feel,” which describes how to become an emotional scientist. It begins with why being an emotional scientist is important. Here is an excerpt from the text:
Feelings are a form of information. They’re like news reports from inside our psyches, sending messages about what’s going on inside the unique person that is each of us in response to whatever internal or external events we’re experiencing. We need to access that information and then figure out what it’s telling us. That way we can make the most informed decisions.
That’s it, in a nutshell, straight from the expert’s pen. Dr. Brackett’s understanding of emotion science is built around the follow premise: Recognize, Understand, Label, Express, Regulate (RULER). If this is interesting to you, I am happy to provide more information. Send me an email at Esulzbach@wcpss.net with questions or comments!
