8 MONTHS EVS in Poland, Olsztyn
“Creative world of volunteering” by NGO ESER "PIONIER"
8 Month EVS project to be held from the end of October 2017 until end of June 2018.
The project "Creative world of volunteering" implies the involvement of volunteer from Spain
and Hungary in 8 monthly activities in the organization ESER “PIONIER”. The volunteer will
have the opportunity of cooperation with the local community (especially children and
students).
The subject of activities will concern the aspects of multiculturalism education
through non-formal activities. Volunteer will conduct workshops by cooperation with local
institution: schools, kindergartens, libraries. What is more, volunteer will conduct different
activities in our community. They will use their individual abilities and talents during whole
project activities.
The main purpose of the project is to promote international volunteering and European
mobility as a form of development and gaining new skills among volunteers and action
recipients.
European voluntary service provides the opportunity for volunteers to acquire and
develop new skills, including: linguistic, cultural, social and personal. The project also aims to
increase mutual cultural sensitivity, which will be influenced by initiatives organized by
volunteers and to promote their activities in social media. During the project we would also like
to increase the openness and cultural sensitivity of the inhabitants of our city and region
through activities conducted by volunteers from Spain and Hungary.
The organization and the project
The European Association for Education and Development "PIONIER" was founded in 2006 in
Olsztyn.
The main idea is to promote the idea of volunteering among the local community. The
projects implemented by the association are aimed at children and young people, students and
seniors.
The main aims of the organization include:
- Support for social initiatives for development and education
- Promoting education and self-education for young people
- Promote youth meeting around the world, respond and help to fight child and youth problems
- Promoting international and regional cultures
- Promotion of foreign language learning
- Supporting cultural activities
- Promoting European Education
- Promoting sport, especially among children and young people
- Assistance in obtaining and using EU funds

Volunteers' profile and tasks:
Participants Profile:
We are looking for one volunteer from Hungary and one volunteer from Spain. Participants need to be aged between 18 and 30 years old as it is in the rules of Erasmus+ European Voluntary Service.
The volunteer should be:
✓ be motivated and opened for new experience
✓ to manage the own time
✓ be creative, positive, responsible
✓ be communicative in English
✓ like to participate in creative workshops with children and seniors
✓ team working
✓ “can do attitude”
We are looking for a volunteer belonging to a group participants of less chance (people struggling with economic or social obstacles that prevented them from going abroad and did not participate in this form of volunteering abroad).
TASKS:
The volunteer will be represented as a person of trust, role model, contact person and a friend for the youngsters.
Therefore is it very important that the volunteer is a nice, tolerant, open and confidence inspiring person who is not using any kind of drugs.
Furthermore is it the volunteers’ task is to inform young people about EVS and their experience with it and inspire them to do an EVS on their own.
The volunteer is free to start a project with the youngsters, and he/she will get help from the supervisor/mentor if he/she wants.
The volunteer is free to choose nearly whatever she/he wants to do with the youngsters and become so a creative force out of the daily activities.
Working conditions
Volunteering hours and days of work:
The Volunteer will do his service 6 hours per day from Monday until Friday. The Volunteer is responsible for organization and establishing of the workshops and for helping at the office. The Volunteer will have a freedom to invent and establish new projects and implement his ideas in the office after he will finish with their regular activities. The Volunteer will have Polish language lessons and it will be important to participate it as much as possible.
Holidays:
There are 2 working days off per month. Holiday period has to be agreed in advance with the Hosting Organization.
Financial support:
All essential costs related to your volunteering project are covered. We are committed to ensuring compliance with a good accommodation standards of life. The accommodation will be situated close to public communication, restaurant, cultural institutions and shops. You will also have a chance to meet locals, get use to the Polish way of life.
The Volunteers will get a food allowance to buy their own food. The money will be transferred on personal bank account until 5th of every month. Hosting organization will cover all the transport expenses connected to activities in the project.
You may also receive a small amount of 'pocket money' (85 euro per month).
All volunteers are covered by insurance during their time abroad.
WHERE WILL YOU LIVE?
Olsztyn is the largest city in Warmian-Masurian Voivodship and the capital of the region, which is famous for its beautiful landscapes, the largest number of lakes in Poland and the most densely forested area. It lies in the southern part of Warmia, the historical land of 1466-1772 in the fief of Rzeczpospolita. It has about 173,000 inhabitants.
Olsztyn is very attractive, has valuable monuments (Castle, Cathedral, High Gate, Old Town Hall). Through the city of Olsztyn flows rivers: Łyna, Wadąg and Kortówka. There are two nature reserves: Mszar and Redykajny. The northern part of Olsztyn is dominated by the City Forest, where many hiking and cycling trails are marked. Olsztyn also offers other attractions such as: museums, planetarium and observatory, theater, cinemas, shooting range, paintball, rope parks, trampoline park, canoeing, libraries, cycling events and much more.
