Wilson Parent Newsletter

August 2021

Dear Wilson Families:

Greetings! On behalf of all of the Wilson Elementary Staff, we are excited to welcome you back for the 2021-22 school year! We are looking forward to a more typical school year. We will continue to follow our cleaning protocols, however, the Safe Learning Plan from last year has expired. We will follow guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education and Superintendent Elstad will provide updated COVID information as it becomes available.

I would also like to thank you for your support and understanding during my leave last spring. For those who may not know, my thirteen-year-old daughter unexpectedly passed away on May 2nd, 2021. It has been a difficult journey and my family and I have appreciated the tremendous support we’ve received.

New Staff

Each year brings positive change. This includes a few new additions to our staff including Melissa Mortensen-Principal Secretary, Allysa Nygren-K3, Page Radue-2A, Monica Fenlon-2D, Holly Pahl-Music, Molly Eroglu-EL, Kate Jordal-Special Education, and Erica Iverson-School Psychologist. Please join me and give them a warm Wilson welcome!

I’d also like to welcome back Angela Armstrong, Kim Lauwers, Sue Marquardt, Beth Filzen, Jill Hukee, Bill McClintock, and Makaya Kunkel. We are excited to learn from their experience as full-time Distance Learning teachers last year to help enhance student learning.

Our theme is “Just Imagine” and the school song is “Just Imagine it” by MKTO. This song is about hope, empowerment, and creating a better future. These are all important virtues we can focus on this year. In closing, I am very proud to partner with you in your student's academic, social-emotional, and physical learning needs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns or celebrations!

Warm Regards,

Melodee Hoffner
