A Message from the Director
Greetings Dream Team-
Teachers change lives. You change lives! Did you know that being the right person, at the right time may be enough to change a person's life forever? Did you know you that you impact lives everyday? As human beings, we are constantly changing based on experiences. Whether for the good or for the bad, we do not stay the same.
Having a positive influence in the form of a teacher can make or break a human being. Years after we are out of school, we remember the teachers that changed our lives. In most cases these may have been the first people that believed in us. That experience of having an authority figure believe that we could succeed carries us forever and to date, I am SURE you remember those teachers.
As teachers, educators, and leaders, it is our charge to grow and nourish the scholars who come to us each day. We have an obligation to teach them to speak articulately, understand deeply, and challenge the status quo consistently. It is because of the expectations that are set (or not set) for scholars that will set them up for success (or failure).
Ask yourself, "which will I choose?" because you have a choice.
The Dream Team Will Fight!
All My Best,
-Director Parks

Goal Setting Form
POWERSCHOOL
PowerSchool made several updates to PowerTeacher Pro with their summer release. These updates may affect the way you have traditionally setup Assignment grades. Teachers must be 100% consistent with Assignment Score Types for grades to calculate correctly. Every Assignment must either be Percent or Points, no mixing within a Class.
Percent Score Type: When using the Percent Score Type, the grade entered must be out of 100 possible points. The Percent Score Type will not properly score assignment grades that are not in the 0-100 grade scale.
Points Score Type: Assignments may be created with any number of possible points. Scores entered reflect points earned, not percent correct.
Note:
If a teacher has already entered grades and needs to make changes to their Score Types, we highly recommend they Recalculate Final Grades after the changes have been made. This will ensure the scholars’ final grades are being calculated correctly. Please click this link for instructions (new in version 12) – How to Recalculate Final GradesESL SUPPLEMENTAL
Many of you I know, but for those of you I have yet to meet I want to e-introduce myself. My name is Terrie and I am the K-12 ESL coordinator at Uplift Williams. I am also the network facilitator for the ESL Certification Preparation sessions. In short, if you have teachers who need ESL certification, I am the person to prepare them to be successful on the TExES 154 exam!
Attached you will find a flyer with the available preparation sessions and locations for the fall semester. These sessions are free to attend, and teachers only need to attend 1 session. I will be sending an e-mail to your ESL campus coordinator and you prior to each session with a list of your campus specific teachers registered to attend.
If you would like for me to reach out directly to express “excitement” to any of your teachers needing certification, please let your ESL campus coordinator know, or you may forward me the teacher information and I will be more than happy to make contact and answer any questions.

COMMON ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE!
A MESSAGE FROM DEAN BAUGHMAN
Instructional Focus: Response to Data- (See Questioning Document in the Email)
Keys to Strong Aggressive Progress Monitoring: (plus see attached)
· Teacher monitors all scholars during IP in a strategic and effective way
· Teacher know what he/she is looking for and has the exemplar to compare scholar responses to
· Teacher recognizes patterns in scholars’ answers (mistakes, misconceptions, etc.)
· Teacher gives specific, in the moment feedback to scholars (affirmative and/or corrective)
3. Practice Frequency
a. Check for understanding a multiple points during INM (intro to new material)
4. Think-write-pair-share
a. Scholars take a few minutes to think about the question or prompt. After, scholars individually write their answer. Next, pair up with a designated partner and compare thoughts or explanations to your prompt, then share out. While they are doing this circulate to make sure the conversations stay on topic.
5. Avoid Yes/No Questions
Avoid yes/no questions and phrases like “Does this make sense?” In response to these questions scholars usually answer “yes.” To help scholars grasp ideas in class, ask pointed questions that require scholars to use their own knowledge.
A MESSAGE FROM DEAN SMALLS
A Message from Special Education Coordinator Mrs. Jones
Special Populations
What’s an IEP?
The acronym IEP stands for Individualized Education Program. This is a written document that describes the educational program designed to meet a child’s individual needs. Every child who receives special education must have an IEP. The IEP has two general purposes: (1) to set learning goals for your child; and (2) to state the supports and services that the school district will provide for your child.
Filling out the blue sheet on a scholar is very important, you must list their strengths and weakness, that you have collected from observations, test, and data.
