Well, this is going to be a really short one. Today, we met about and talked about getting better at student goal setting and parent/community involvement. Those items are on the UOI of because they are proven to be good for student learning just like we know differentiating instruction is good for all learners. I hope you were able to pick up some good ideas to implement in your classroom as we continue to get better and move forward.
This next week, I need you to be discussing in your departments how we can better implement the parent/community involvement piece. If we can find a way to foster support at home, then we will start making more gains with these kids. I know when MaCall sends home an email with test dates and study tips that we talk about that at my house with our child. Try sending home a few questions for parents to directly quote and ask their kid at the table next week. Parent communication is about empowering them and getting them to be a valuable asset for you. A few of them may surprise you.
Enjoy your long weekend. I will see you on Tuesday.
