Thursday Extended Office Hours
Extended Office Hours for Students & Parents: Happening Now!
Beginning September 17th, she will be available every Thursday from 3-6 p.m. to meet and answer questions for students and parents.
Not sure what to ask? Take a look at common topics covered for each grade level.
*Naviance will be covered for all grades
9th Grade - School & community involvement, introduction to resume building
10th Grade - Exploring career clusters, job-shadowing, continued resume building
11th Grade - Connecting extracurricular involvement to resume, college visits, career exploration, SAT/ACT
12th Grade - College application process, financial aid & scholarships, other post-secondary options for students not attending college, continued resume building and interview skills

ACE (Assistance for College and Everything Else!)
September 1st - October 9th

College Application Deadlines
For every college application completed, student are required to complete and submit a PHS College Application Checklist by October 9th! These checklists are available in the guidance office and within the “Document Library” via Naviance
PSAT @ PHS - October 28th
PSAT @ PHS is Wednesday October 28th! The PSAT is a practice college entrance exam that will be given to all sophomores and juniors during periods one through four that morning. Students do not need to register for the exam. Room assignments will be posted after students return from fall break. Information and practice books will be distributed to sophomores and juniors in September.
ASVAB for Seniors - October 28th
Senior students are encouraged to take the ASVAB on Wednesday, October 28th. The ASVAB is an assessment that measures one’s skill sets to help predict future academic and occupational success. This assessment will be administered free of charge to seniors. Interested students should register for the ASVAB via the “Colleges” tab in Naviance under “Upcoming College Visits”.
ZAPS Online Test Prep
ZAPS is now offering online test prep sessions for the ACT and PSAT/SAT! Numerous test prep dates are available now throughout December. This is a great opportunity for students to receive strategies for enhancing their test-taking skills and improve their scores on college entrance exams. Students can register online at www.zaps.com and can visit the guidance office for details.
Stay Informed via Naviance
Students and parents are encouraged to log-in to Naviance regularly to stay up-to-date on important updates and reminders from the guidance office. In addition to various college and career resources, current scholarship opportunities, college rep presentations, as well as college preview days are provided are Naviance.
For students, your Naviance username is your student ID number, and your password is your 8-digit birthday.
Parents logging into Naviance for the first time must enter a registration code to create an account and gain access to the site. A parent’s registration code is his/her 10-digit home telephone number (including area code).
