Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 8 | 22 MARCH 2023
Loving God,
Please help us be brave and do what's right, even when it's hard.
Help us to be kind to others and make good choices
so that we can live in loving harmony with each other.
Just like the song "This Little Light of Mine" says,
help us shine your light and show your love to everyone we meet.
Please guide us and bless us as we go through each day.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Dear Parents and Carers
Yesterday Dr Tony Curry one of the directors from Catholic Education, Western Australia came to visit our school. Dr Curry was very impressed with the engaged learning and high impact teaching he saw across many classrooms. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of our staff who positively impact the lives of every child, every day.
We have established a new before school routine. When children arrive at school they are to hang their bags up and move towards their designated before school play area with their hats on their heads. Years 1 – 3 children are to play on the bottom oval. Years 4 - 6 children are to play on the top oval. When the bell goes children are to move quickly to their classrooms, line up quietly ready to start the day.
We have had at times almost 20 children waiting before 8.10am in the front office. Children should not be dropped off at school earlier than 8.10am. If you need your child to be cared for before this time, please contact Kids Academy on 93423529 as they run a before and after school care program at our school.
Many children are arriving at school late. Children who arrive late are missing out on vital literacy instruction and learning. While we understand that there may be times when getting to school on time is beyond your control, there are many children who regularly arrive late. Please see your classroom teacher if you are having problems getting your child to school on time.
On Monday, we ended our whole school assembly by singing the beautiful hymn called ‘This Little Light of Mine’. I told the children that they had Jesus’ light shining brightly in each one of them and that they could light the way for others in their words and in their actions. Let us shine brightly for one another, in this beautiful school community
God bless you all.

P&F Easter Raffle
It is time for our Annual Easter Raffle at Our Lady of Mercy Primary School, proudly run by the P&F Committee. This year we are running two separate raffles. The first raffle is your child's classroom raffle. The tickets for this raffle are $2 for one ticket or three tickets for $5.00.
We are also running a Major Prize this year, which is a lovely gift bag kindly donated by our friend and fellow P&F Committee member, Councillor James Rowe (City of Wanneroo). Each child can buy one ticket, for a cost of $5.00. This raffle will only have one winner.
We would also love any donations from parents of Easter chocolates and gifts. Please bring your donation to your child's classroom teacher by Friday, 31 March 2023.
All winners will be announced by Thursday 6th April 2023. We hope that everyone enjoys our 2023 Easter Raffle and that we can raise lots of money for our new Ninja Playground! Good luck everyone!
