DHS Weekly Update
Thursday, March 25, 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Families,
We have a lot of things going on here at DHS! We will be transitioning to more in-person students beginning April 19th. Don't forget to make your selection if you desire to change from the learning choice your student is currently in. See this communication if you have any questions. Thanks to our community connections and our school nurses for making a student vaccination opportunity available! See below for more information about this opportunity.
Don't forget that Spring Break is just around the corner - April 3 - 11 - and there is no school during that week. Also, our Food and Nutrition Department wanted me to remind everyone that breakfast and lunch are FREE for the remainder of the year! Encourage your student to pick something up from the cafeteria on their way out of the building or if your student is virtual, by the cafeteria door beginning at 12:30 pm.
It is a pleasure to serve this community!

Principal, Decatur High School

CSD 6-11TH Grade Language Survey
In addition to requiring the academic pursuit of World Languages, IB also encourages students to study their mother tongue “wherever possible.” We ask that all 6th - 11th-grade students complete this short, five-question survey about the languages they use to communicate at school and home. The information collected here will be used to build our new 6-12th grade World Language library collection.
For more information, please contact Ms. Hill (School Librarian/Media Specialist) at ihill@csdecatur.net.

Afternoon Attendance
DHS Parent/Guardians,
Please be aware that in our current schedule with morning instruction and afternoon live support, that both the morning and afternoon sessions are mandatory for students, and teachers are taking attendance separately for each session. In this way, if a student comes to the morning instructional session, but not the afternoon live support session, they will be counted present for the morning session, but absent for the live support, and vice versa.
Thank you, and if you have any questions, please contact Taylor Cross at taycross@csdecatur.net.
DISTRICT NEWS
Georgia Milestones and MAP Administration
The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) has stated that all in-person learners are required to participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System test (GMAS), and schools must offer the opportunity for virtual learners to take the GMAS in person. We will extend the same opportunity for K-2 students regarding the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test.
Only families whose students are learning 100% virtually will be allowed to decline testing due to the COVID pandemic. Surveys to indicate your testing decision will be available to the parents/guardians of virtual learners in Infinite Campus on March 29 for students grades K-5 and April 12th for students grades 6-12.
Please join us on zoom for a question and answer session about the Georgia Milestones and MAP administration for families that have chosen virtual instruction.
When: Mar 31, 2021, 06:30 PM
Topic: Georgia Milestones or MAP for Virtual Learners
