Switching Classes for Reading
If your child is switching to another classroom, look for an email or a note stapled in your child's agenda from your child's new reading teacher. If there is no note or email, then your child is still with me!

Math-
Students are now starting to spread out in different groups - please see their packet for what lessons they are working on.
Social Studies:
We are starting our first Social Studies unit this week - Communities.
Writing-
We are continuing with our first Writing Unit - Narrative Writing. We will be focusing on the traits of Ideas and Conventions (punctuation, capitalization, complete sentences)
Standards being worked on: 3.W.3.3 Write narrative compositions in a variety of forms that-
- establish an introduction
- include specific descriptive details and clear event sequences
- include dialogue
- connect ideas and events using introduction and transition words
- provide an ending
Reading-
This week, we will be working in Unit 1 Week 5- During this week long unit, we will be focusing on:
- Strategy: Ask and Answer Questions
- Skill: Main Idea and Key Details
- Genre: Informational Text: Expository
- Vocabulary Skill: Context Clues
- Phonics/Fluency: Long /o/
Spelling and vocabulary lists have been uploaded to ScootPad. Words will be glued into their agendas on Monday.

Vocabulary:
1. carved- to carve is to cut something into a shape
2. clues- clues are hints that help solve a problem or a mystery
3. grand- grand means great or large
4. landmark- a landmark is an important building, structure, or place
5. massive- something that is massive is very, very large
6. monument- a monument is a building, statue, or an object made to honor a person or event
7. national- something that is national has a characteristic of or has to do with a country
8. traces- traces are small bits or signs left behind that show that something was there
