Digital Media is anything stored digitally. In this day and age, most of the things previously printed out, or written, are store online. what does this mean to you though? Less papers yes, however, have you ever said something that you wish you hadn't? or more importantly, have you ever tweeted something like that? Unlike spoken words, things that you've put on facebook or other sites is open to the public. Even if you delete it later, it's still saved somewhere. The etiquette that is used to prevent things of that nature from being said is called digital citizenship. Digital citizenship is how you should act online, representing yourself well.
Your Digital Footprint and its Consequences
A digital footprint is the trail that you leave online every time you post something. By clicking share, even if you didn't say it, means that its on your profile. With social media becoming a bigger part of everyone's day, colleges and companies have begun looking into your digital footprint. Online Relationships and your Online Image
Now, being able to chat with someone in china is great, you may even consider them a friend. This is called an online relationship. Online relationships can be dangerous if you don't know how to interact safely online. Never give any personal information out online, and never to a stranger. Another concern is whether or not they are like what the seem to be like. What you seem like online is called your image, it is comprised of what you say, 'like' and photos that you upload. This is a big part of your digital footprint, and what colleges and employers often look at. Just remember to represent yourself well! Something other things relevant to your Online Image are double standards. Double standards are rules or perceptions applicable to one group, but not another. probably the most common are the double standards between what males and females do online.
