Are you a student looking for a way to make a real difference in the work of your government, while also gaining job experience and connections?
VA’s Digital Media Engagement team works with the Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) program, to provide students can with an opportunity to work on projects that advance the work of government on multiple fronts. Collaborate with fellow interns to create blog posts for the VAntage Point website. Roles range from interviewing veterans and manning social media accounts, to researching facts about veterans and writing about memorable veteran experiences
Arch Ready Express Workshop: Adulting 101
Date: Thursday, April 11
Time: 3:00pm & 3:30pm
Location: Career Center Multipurpose Room, Clark Howell Hall
This 30-minute express workshop will cover the top five tips for navigating life after college in 15 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for questions. This workshop will help you to identify strategies to successfully begin your professional career and identify some wonderful resources to help ease the transition into life beyond the arch. If you are nervous about life after graduation, this workshop is for you!
This workshop is open to ALL majors at UGA and counts toward your Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate - http://career.uga.edu/archready.
This workshop is limited to 20 people per session and pre-registration is required.
Arch Ready: You Majored in What? Alumni Panel Event
Date: Thursday, April 11

Translating the major you love to a career can be a challenge. You may not know how to answer questions like, “What will you do with that major?” or “Why are you majoring in that?” At this event, a panel of recent alumni will join us to share information about their careers and how they got there after completing a degree from UGA. They are here to offer practical advice to help you answer the questions above as well as take steps toward identifying possibilities for your future career.
In this panel you will:
- Hear from recent alumni who have successfully carved their career paths
- Learn how your college experience prepares you for many career possibilities
- Have the opportunity to network with the panelists

Graduate Student Workshop: Exploring Life Science Careers Beyond the Academy
Date: Friday, April 12
Time: 3:30pm
Location: Biological Sciences Building, Lecture Hall 404D
Many UGA graduate students will ultimately pursue careers in industry, non-profit, and government settings. In this workshop, we will review resources and strategies which may be useful for exploring these opportunities. Join us for an engaging discussion about beneficial activities such as mentoring, job shadowing, and internships in addition to more unique forms of exploration such as interactive job simulations. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to tackle industry career exploration and an enhanced knowledge of the resources which are available for you to do so moving forward.
No registration is required.
Pre-Health Personal Statement Writing Lab
Date: Monday, April 15
Time: 4:30pm
Location: Career Center Multipurpose Room, Clark Howell Hall
If you're applying to OT, PT, PA, medical, dental, or any health profession school, it's time to start thinking about writing your personal statement. In this small group session, we'll discuss what admissions committees look for in personal statements and go over techniques to improve your writing skills. You'll walk away with tangible resources to help you begin or improve your personal statement. Bring a pen or your laptop and be ready to write.
Labs are limited to 25 students; must register in advance on Handshake to attend.
