Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 16th April 2021
Showing Compassion
Compassion
Dragon eyes
Year 4 have started a new art project. They have been looking at vocabulary linked to dragon eyes and how lines and shapes can reflect the different adjectives. They have sketched dragon eyes before moving on to the design process for creating a clay dragon eye.
RSPB Wild Challenge
Reception love their weekly visits to the Forest School and have enthusiastically accepted the challenge from the RSPB to work towards their Wild Challenge Bronze Award. This week, the children took on the role of detectives, searching for evidence of animal activity in the Forest School. With detective eyes on the children discovered many signs of animal visitors! The children are very much looking forward to building bird and animal boxes next week in the hope of encouraging more wildlife to our school grounds. How exciting!

A Message from Mrs McCormick
Whilst I am looking forward to my journey ahead, I will miss my Cathedral family very much. With much love. Emma McCormick
School Update
I hope you had an enjoyable break with time to relax with your family and enjoy the festivities of the Easter Christian festival.
Training Day - 30th April 2021
Just to remind all parents that Friday 30th April 2021 is a training day. There will be Oscars provision available bookable via the magic booking website.
A Warm Welcome to New Staff
Mr Gold is not new, however for the next half term he does have a new role, teaching in Year 3 until Mrs Beckett returns from her maternity leave. Mrs Pitt has taken over from Mrs McIllmurray for the summer term teaching our Year 5 class. Thank you to Mrs Pitt and Mr Gold who have worked really hard to ensure that the transition has been as smooth as possible.
Parent Consultations
I hope that the new system for parent consultations worked well for families. We will be asking for feedback soon about the process and how it was for you!
It is great to see that Covid infection numbers continue to be low, particularly in the Ripon area and the staff and I are very hopeful that restrictions will be reduced over time.
Thank you for all your support.
Kind regards
Steven Holmes
Headteacher
Cracking Eggs!
A big thank you to the Friends who made sure that our annual Easter egg competition still went ahead. We had some wonderful entries (Year 2 eggs shown above) and it was decided that everyone who entered was a winner and they received a delicious chocolate egg treat kindly donated by Morrisons supermarket!
