STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
58th Annual All South Jersey Junior High Chorus
On January 25th and 26th, 8th graders Amanda Hawkins, Lilith Suchyan, and Rafaella Russo took part in the 58th Annual All South Jersey Junior High Chorus. They’ve spent the last few months working on eight new pieces of music and performed them this past weekend under the direction of Jessica Kolody from Highland Regional High School. The Chorus was made up of over 180 singers from across South Jersey, including our three students and four former Fernwood singers from EHTHS. Congratulations!
Owls & Mice: A Field Biologist Simulation
In Mrs. Flesch's science class this week, students are simulating a field biologist study of competition and limited resources. Students are modeling the predator-prey relationship between owls (which are indigenous to Egg Harbor Township) and mice.
3rd Annual Multimedia Mash
8th grade Media students went to the high school last week for the 3rd Annual Multimedia Mash. Students participated in a workshop of their choice from the Communications Academy which included Sports Media, Cinematography, News Media, and Post Production.
All South Jersey Junior High Band
This past weekend, seven Fernwood students successfully auditioned and were accepted to the All-South Jersey Junior High Band! They will perform with the All-South Jersey Junior High Band on Sunday, March 1 at 3pm right here at Fernwood.

Science Lab - Microscopes
Last week the students in Ms. Kupcinski's class went to the science lab and completed a microscope lab. In this lab the students learned the parts of the microscope and how to handle it. They completed the "Letter e" Lab where they prepared a slide and viewed it through the various objective lenses. The students were then able to view other slides with the microscopes.
Stockton University - Student Spaceflight Experiments Program - Mission 14 - Patch Design Competition
The mission patch designs selected, one from each grade level, will also be flown to the International Space Station on the SpaceX Dragon capsule/Falcon9 along with the Stockton student experiments of Mission 14 and returned with the experiments upon completion of the flight operations. These flight patch designs will be mounted and displayed at the home institutions. The winning mission patch designs will be fabricated into embroidered patches to commenorate participation in the project!

Self e-STEAM Night for Girls
Attention all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade females...you and your parents are invited to Fernwood's first ever Self eSTEAM Night on Thursday January 30th from 6-8:30pm right here at Fernwood where you get to participate in sessions about engineering, aviation, microbits, art, self image, leadership, friendship, and much more! Parents, there will be sessions for you too! Speak with representatives from the high school and a local college to hear about the exciting things ahead for your daughters! The event is free and there will be food, drinks, raffles, and even a photo booth! Register before the event to get your choice of sessions.
