Forest Lane Monday Memo
Monday, October 23rd - Friday, October 27th
"Greeting from the Principal"
Forest Lane families --
It is quite likely that we have all heard the phrase "It takes a village to raise a child" or another phrase very similar to that. The origin of the phrase has not been pinpointed, but can be attributed to a proverb found in multiple African cultures. The takeaway is: the development and growth of our children is dependent on the entire community. We have one of our big "village" moments this week at Forest Lane. On Thursday evening and Friday morning, home and school come together with the opportunity for parent/teacher conferences. Families have the chance to speak, in person, with the educators who guide their children on their learning journey each day. Educators have the chance to speak with the families who support their students and who are guiding them in life's journey. As a teacher, and now as a principal, it is one of the best days of the school year for me. I look forward to the great connections between your home and our school later this week.
A big thank you to the PTO for their work on offering the Book Fair this week and providing a meal for staff on Thursday evening.
See you later this week!

Raising Caring Kids: Changing the Way You Look at the World
Perspective taking requires you to put yourself in another person’s position and imagine what
you would feel, think, or do if you were in that situation. Perspective taking helps children to be
more successful as adults because they are better able to deal with other people. Seeing and
understanding the world from someone else’s point of view is an important life skill you can
teach children to build healthy and satisfying relationships. Explore more about perspective
