Player News!

Hello Families,

November is here and fall weather is creeping in! Thank you all who came to Player School on October 27th for our Costume Parade! We are so glad we selected that day for the parade as the weather was beautiful! The following two days were rainy and cold! I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween Day on Sunday. It was a nice day to go out and Trick or Treat.

The weather is changing but we will continue to go outdoors as long as it is not raining (or snowing) or too cold. Please make sure to send your child in appropriate outerwear, including hats and gloves when needed. Also, teachers would like for you to send in a set of clothes for the classroom that are for colder weather. They will return the set of clothes you currently have for your child.

Please read through the entire newsletter to learn about other news coming up at Player School this month!

Smore Newsletters

Newsletters will continue to come to you all year through this same website, Smore Newsletters. Please make sure to read them for all updated things happening at the school. Don't forget to "LIKE" the newsletter if you found it to be informative.

Please notice that this newsletter can be translated in other languages for your convenience!!

Getting to Know You

If your child has recently enrolled in Player School or if you haven't already done so, please take a moment to fill out the form below to provide us with a little more information about your child. It will also ask about other adults who are allowed to pick up your child. We will not dismiss your child to anyone who you have not indicated as an alternative pick up person besides a parent. You will also have an opportunity to submit any questions you might need to know prior to our orientation days.

Note: If you already filled this out from the previous time I sent it out or from our website, you will not need to do it again.

November Snack Menu

As mentioned last month, we are still having some difficulty getting all of our snack items as ordered due to a worker strike with one of our vendors. We are doing everything we can to keep the menu as close as planned. Thank you for understanding.

Player School T-Shirts Are Here!

Player School T-shirts are in! We will be distributing them this week and will ask all students to wear their T-shirts this Friday as we begin our Cookie Dough Fundraiser this week. Have your child wear his/her shirt to show support and school spirit. The proceeds from the cookie dough sale help to pay for the school T-shirts so there is no cost to parents and all students receive one. Remember, this Friday, November 5th is Player School Spirit Day! Wear Player T-Shirt!

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

The cookie dough fundraiser will officially open today, November 1st and run until November 20th. I am including in this newsletter the links to help you get started. You should have already received a separate message with details about the sale. We really hope you are able to participate. Happy Selling!

Player School Social Worker

Ms. Natalie Nudera, our Player School Social Worker, will begin coordinating a school-wide incentive program to help teachers as they introduce typical social and emotional skills to their students. This month, the incentive will be to earn a feather to contribute to the giant turkey that will be displayed in our school hall. Each time a child is recognized for practicing a social skill, he/she will be given a feather to cut out and add to the turkey. Be sure to ask your child about the turkey feathers as the month goes on!

Parent Corner

Providing information about child development and parenting tips are part of the responsibility of early childhood educators. Our program is no exception. We enjoy sending you information that you might find helpful. Below is an interesting video for you to watch when you have a few minutes of time. This Ted Talk shows how playing and interacting with children is vital for their brain development beginning from birth until at least 5 years old. Who would have thought that a game of Peek-a-Boo could change the world?!

Help Wanted

School District 109 is still looking to hire paraprofessionals and substitutes. If you have at least 30 hours of college credit, you can apply for a paraprofessional license. If you have a bachelor's degree, you can apply for a teacher substitute license. If you are interested in hearing more about either of these positions, feel free to reach out to me. I can guide you to how to obtain a license or answer any of your questions.
