Paris Elementary School November 2019

Principal's Note

We had such a fantastic turn out for our Celebration of Learning event. It is always so wonderful to have families visit the school to have a little fun. We hope you all enjoyed your time and found there were many engaging activities. If you have any suggestions for what you would like to see at a future Celebration of Learning event, please reach out to us and share your ideas. We have another evening planned for Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm.

We want to remind families that we do have a food pantry at PES that is open 3 times a month. If you are interested in more information regarding the food pantry, please feel free to reach out to the school and we can provide you with more information.

As a reminder, school begins for students at 8:45. Students arriving after this time are marked late and will need to be escorted to the office and signed in by a parent/guardian. If your child is sick or has an appointment, please be sure to contact the school office before 9:00 to let us know why your child will not be in school. We appreciate all you do to help get your children to school every day.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Life can certainly get very busy and stressful as we head into the holiday season, but I hope you all are able to spend some quality time with family and reflect on all you have to be thankful for. We want you to know we love your children and are thankful we have this wonderful opportunity to work with them each day.

A Thank You From Our Title I Staff

Thank you to all the families that joined us in the library for math games at our recent Celebration of Learning. It was a great turn out and staff enjoyed the opportunity to meet families and interact around the games. Some of the games children were able to play at this even can be played online as well. We wanted to pass along the website that the games came from as a resource for you to access at home. You can click on the link below or type in this address to access the games:

Second Grade's New Friends

Second grade was so excited to welcome three new “students” in October. The “students” are triplets. Mrs. Pacholski delivered our new students to us while we were watching the video we’d made about our phonics learning to date. Mrs. Hatch was presented with Gustov Drago, Ms. Abramowitz’s room welcomed Gustopher, and Gustopherson joined Mrs. Doyle’s room. Everyone was surprised that our new “students” were our mascots for our new phonics program! The triplets have joined in on a lot of our fun this year including our visit with the Paris Fire Department.

Third Grade Is Thankful For Dictionaries

On October 30th, the Oxford Hills Rotary Club came for their annual visit to donate a new dictionary to each third grade student. John Griffith and two other volunteers came in and spoke with the third grade about what a service club is and does. The students were very surprised to learn that there are over 1.2 million Rotary Club members world wide! Our students were all very excited to receive their dictionaries and can't wait to start using them. Thank you to the Rotary Club for this annual donation!
