BOARD MEETING NOTICE: AN URGENT CALL TO ACTION

YOUR SUPPORT IS VITAL AND MOST RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED

On May 12th the Galaxy Board voted secretly to stop funding the final $15,000 needed to complete the last stage of the Appleview litigation-reply brief and oral argument. The Board also voted secretly to create a cynical new homeowner "voluntary donation" policy to fund the continuation of the litigation, but then declined to inform homeowners. This caused the GTCA to miss the official deadline of filing the reply brief.

No matter what you may have heard - or what we'd all like to believe - the fact remains that Appleview presents imminent construction risks to a major natural gas pipeline that supplies half of Manhattan's gas. The goal of litigation to this point has been to protect All Galaxy residents and property which is in the immediate blast zone of the pipeline. The Board'’s last minute vote to stop funding previously Board-approved litigation actually gave support to the Appleview Developer, and PLACED AT RISK THE LIVES OF GALAXY RESIDENTS. Why would the Board do so?

A concerned homeowner, Ruth Olsen, will address these issues at the Board meeting tonight, Thursday, June 11th. It is important that concerned residents make every effort to attend this meeting and support Ruth and the Appleview opposition. Please arrive early as her 5 min address will be right at the start of the Board meeting.

Time: 8:30pm SHARP

Venue: Galaxy Spa Lounge

YOUR PRESENCE AT THIS MEETING IS CRITICAL. OUR LIVES AND PROPERTY VALUES ARE TRULY AT RISK!

FYI - NO INDEPENDENT SAFETY STUDY HAS BEEN PERFORMED!

Some owners believe that the Galaxy Board and local planning boards would never risk our lives and property by allowing construction proximate to the pipeline if it was not safe to do so. Nevertheless, experts have testified that the project in fact CARRIES GRAVE RISK. No independent safety study has been performed. Pipeline accidents DO happen, and at an alarming rate. It is well documented that pipeline companies like Transco DO NOT PROTECT THE PUBLIC OR TELL THE TRUTH.

YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR BOARD'S PROTECTION, DUE DILIGENCE and HONESTY - AND YOU DESERVE IT!

WHY HAS OUR BOARD CHOSEN TO BREACH ITS FISCAL DUTY AND ABANDON ITS MORAL DUTY TO OWNERS IN THIS INSTANCE?

  • Why did this Board choose this action in the absence of any safety data that guarantees the project's safety?

  • Why aren't they demanding that the Appleview developer and/or Mayor Sacco of North Bergen undertake an independent safety study?

  • Under what pretext does the current GTCA Board permit owners and residents to persist in the belief that Appleview does not pose a serious risk when facts that clearly suggest otherwise have convinced previous Galaxy Boards to fund this litigation?

  • Why would the GTCA Board de-fund this (heretofore) successful litigation so close to the finish line, with so much at stake? (It can't be about affordability - the monthly expense to owners for this final litigation is less than $6.00 a month, concluding with the court's decision expected in September.)

  • Why has this Board led owners to believe it is actively reaching out to surrounding condos and businesses to help fund this litigation when it has become glaringly apparent they are not doing so and have no obvious or proven intention to do so?

PLEASE ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT MEETING AND SUPPORT RUTH AS SHE SPEAKS ON BEHALF OF OWNERS AND SEEKS ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS.
