February 8th 2019
Dear KA Families,
Happy Friday!
Hope everything is well! This week we have begun our schedule change--we now have Science every Monday and Thursday, and PE every Tuesday and Friday. We also have begun SEL lessons (Social-Emotional Lessons) with Ms. Shilpa! Today we celebrated our Awesome Authors in ELA. We worked very hard to finish our Weather Stories! We will be sharing these with you soon.
In this smore you will find important information about next week--Valentines Day and the 100th Day of School--, updates on our curriculum, and reminders. We are looking forward to a week of fun and learning!
With Love,
KA teachers
Updates for Next Week
The 100th Day of School
The 100th day of school is quickly approaching! On Friday February 15th we will celebrate the 100 days of learning with your children! We have lots of activities planned for the day that will encourage the students to reflect on what they have learned as well as many math-based activities that will require them to count to 100 in several different ways and solidify their number sense.
As a school-home connection we are asking that you and your child count out 100 objects together for your child to bring to school as his/her “100th Day Collection.” Your child can bring the objects in in a clear jar or displayed on a poster board in a creative way. Some examples of 100th day objects could be: stickers, paperclips, marbles, pennies, marshmallows, cheerios, legos, candies, or small toys. Here are some visual examples beside.
Feel free to be CREATIVE! If you have any questions please reach out or email us at dteska@brooklynprospect.org. We look forward to seeing the projects on February 15th!
We would also like to invite students to dress up like they are 100 Year old Brooklyn Prospect Students on Friday! Kindergarten students are still expected to wear their uniforms and can accessorize like they are 100 years old!
Valentines Day
KA Community Time
We are excited to invite our families into the classroom to share about their community/culture/identity with our students. The times presented below are the days that we are inviting you to come and share. The goal of the share is for students to learn about the diversity in our classroom community. The time slot is 30 minutes long, but you're only expected to "share" for about 10-15 minutes.
