Social Studies

This week in Social Studies we did a song on the 3 branches of government. Then we did a little slide show that we would have to make signals to tell Mrs.Hassels what branch it was.We also did some school house rock songs on the Government and we did the Hip - Hop version of the school house rock video. Also we did a page of questions that we could get with a partner and we would each find the answer on a website called Congress for Kids. That is what we used to find the answer.Yesterday we went over the answers in social studies and we listened to another school house rock video. Then today we read the preamble and we made a graphic organizer to help us memorize the preamble for a special activity. That is what we did this week in social studies.

This week in literacy we did a noun QR code game. Mrs. Mass came in and we did a plural noun Peardeck. We did a sheet where you had to write a word that was around the room, then write it plural. We did close reading in guided reading and we practiced drawing conclusions. That's what we did in literacy this week.

On Monday we talked about cinquain and free verse poems. We talked about how they either needed alliteration or assonance. On Tuesday we talked more about alliteration and assonance. Alliteration his where there is a repeated consonant sound. Assonance is a repeated vowel or diphthong. On Wednesday we read a book about free verse poems about animals. On Thursday we reviewed the checklist about cinquains. That was what we did in writing this week.

Mrs. Price's Math Class

This week on Monday we took our math M.A.P test.

On Tuesday we took our Math Report Card Test

We also did a lot guided math.

Mrs. Hassels' Math Class

This week we did very fun stuff. One of the fun things we did this week is that we did a place value sheet with decimals to the thousandths to thousands. Also, this week we learned decimals. With the decimals,we had drawn them in flats, longs and cubes. We also wrote the fraction for it!This week in class,we also learned to write decimals and fractions for flats, longs, and cubes. The first day in math,we had our MAP math test. This is some of the stuff we did in math this week!!!!

On Monday we played break the code . In break the code we get a card with numbers on it and we have to roll a dice, and whatever number we get is the numbers of exercises we have to do.Next we played something similar to the other game, and in the other game we had to do different challenges with a deck of cards. Then we started CRAZY BOWLING! In CRAZY BOWLING we had to do some CRAZY challenges and on of them was bowling backwards?! The next day we had to start all of the CRAZY challenges again from the beginning. Last and finally we did bingo bowling where we had to do different types of bowling things. When we did that one example of something we had to do is get a strike, get a gutter ball, get a spare etc. So yeah we had a pretty cool week in P.E. I can say because it looks like I had a lot to wright about!

In music this week we finished up our stations that lead up to the singing test.We also watched some the fifth grade concert. In the fifth grade concert Preston's mom Mrs.Heisler was Luke Skywalker from Starwars. Kaitlyn's mom Mrs.Busky was a shark from the movie Jaws.We also did a syllable football team.

In Art we are making buildings using tints and shades. We made squares and then we had to put different tints in each square. We are also working on the sky using different shades.
