7TH-8TH GRADE CONCERT -- DECEMBER 3, 2019 7:30 PM
Tuning and warming up takes time; students must arrive at the assigned time of 7:00 pm or notify the teacher two weeks in advance. We want everyone to play their best!
Students should dress nicely to show pride in presenting their music to the community! School and orchestra dress codes (black bottoms, white tops) will be enforced.
Gentlemen: black dress pants, white button-down/polo shirt, dress shoes (if possible), any color tie.
Ladies: knee length or longer (especially cello players) black skirt, dress, or dress pants, nice white shirt/blouse without words, dress shoes (if possible).
Students should be bringing their instruments home to practice every night; please encourage their playing and consider having them practice performing for you or other friends/relatives!
CLASSICAL SCHOOL WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR MUSIC TEACHERS!
It was great to see the enthusiasm and smiles on the students' faces as they showcased what they have been learning in music at Classical.

In the event that school is cancelled due to inclement weather, important information may be announced on local radio and TV stations. AASD uses the radio and TV stations listed below to inform families of such schedule changes as quickly as possible. Please avoid calling District or school offices during such emergency situations. STUDENT COUNCIL FOOD DRIVE
Thank you to all for the many donations. As a school we collected 1,554 items! The items were picked up by St. Joe's Food Pantry and were much appreciated. Our Student Council members will be volunteering at St. Joe's in December with sorting donations and serving clients.
HAND WASHING CAN SAVE LIVES
Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. It is best to wash your hands with soap and clean running water for 20 seconds. However, if soap and clean water are not available, use an alcohol-based product to clean your hands. Alcohol-based hand rubs significantly reduce the number of germs on skin and are fast acting.
When washing hands with soap and water:
● Wet your hands with clean running water and apply soap. Use warm water if it is available.
● Rub hands together to make a lather and scrub all surfaces.
● Continue rubbing hands for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Imagine singing "Happy Birthday" twice to a friend!
● Rinse hands well under running water
● Dry your hands using a paper towel or air dryer. If possible, use your paper towel to turn off the faucet
Remember: If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based gel to clean hands.
When using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer:
● Apply product to the palm of one hand
● Rub hands together
● Rub the product over all surfaces of hands and fingers until hands are dry.
When should you wash your hands?
● Before preparing or eating food
● After going to the bathroom
● After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has gone to the bathroom
● Before and after tending to someone who is sick
● After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
● After handling an animal or animal waste
● After handling garbage
● Before and after treating a cut or wound
WHEN YOUR CHILD HAS A COLD
- FEVER: Acetaminophen, drinking extra fluids.
- RUNNY NOSE: Antihistamines or decongestants may help but should be used with caution, especially for young children.
- STUFFY NOSE: Same advice as for runny nose. Nasal spray may help.
- COUGH: This is a frustrating and difficult symptom to control. Over-the-counter cough medicines and a cool mist vaporizer may provide some relief.
- SORE THROAT: Most are caused by a virus, few by strep infection. Throat spays, a cool mist vaporizer, and drinking cool liquids will help relieve the discomfort.
- Has a cold lasting longer than 10 days.
- Has severe pain in the face or forehead.
- Has ear pain or drainage.
- Has a fever above 102 degrees.
- Has shortness of breath.
- Has a cough or wheezing that won't go away.
