Parent News March 2019
Snow Days!
As a parent, I am done with snow days! My wife really is since I tend to spend part, if not all of the day at school, leaving the kids at home with her as she tries to work on her real estate business while also keeping the kids from fighting...
As a principal, I am done with snow days! It is a challenge rescheduling events, coordinating ice/snow removal, communicating ever changing plans and finding a rhythm for second semester.
Our teachers are also done with snow days! They are working to find a balance between the pressures of presenting curriculum, keeping students on task and getting them into the school routine with so many breaks.
Our kids too, I think, are getting to the point of being done with snow days! Even in middle school where they are fighting hormones, fluctuating attention spans and worrying about the oddest things, our kids really want predictable structure in their lives.
Whether it is some sort of dance, a little prayer, positive thoughts, shaking your fist in the air or sitting in the corner sobbing, let's band together for no more snow days!
