- Due to the current circumstances, H&S is not soliciting the usual annual $25 in dues per student. However, H&S will continue to incur some expenses related to items such as yearbook, 6th grade promotion, Unami t-shirts for 6th grade students, and more, so we will gladly accept and appreciate any donations. Principal's Post - A Weekly Note From Mr. Ortman
Dear Mill Creek Families,
Happy New Year!
I want to thank you and our teachers/staff for your continued vigilance and adherence to our Health and Safety Plan as we work towards brighter days ahead and a point, in the not too distant future, where vaccine distribution will allow us to return to some "normalcy" at school. While this may not truly occur until next school year, it is something to which we can all look forward to. In the meantime, I commend our students for continuing to enjoy the "here and now" in a safe manner, which allows our building to remain open and remain a highly enjoyable place to for our students to learn and for our staff to work with your children each day.
I hope your 2021 is off to a great start!
Shawn M. Ortman

From the Desk of Mr. Murtha
It is hard to believe that 2021 has arrived! We are nearly halfway through the current school year, which is quite an accomplishment considering the challenges we have faced during not just the current school year but going back to last March.
A new year brings resolutions, a fresh start, and... this year... hope. May our personal resolutions be meaningful and attainable. I certainly wish everyone the best in keeping them (not always so easy!). I encourage you, especially students, to use the new year as an opportunity to either get a fresh start in an area you would like to improve or to simply enter 2021 feeling refreshed. For the former, perhaps study habits, time spent reading for pleasure, or being a better sibling (my 2 boys at home could certainly use some improvement in this area!) would be apropos. And then there is hope. 2021 brings much hope for a healthier community, country, and world and a return to some level of normal. I usually try to avoid focusing on hope, as it is a passive act over which I have little control. However, I do believe that there is good reason to focus on hope as we begin 2021. And I also believe that we make an active choice as to whether we are hopeful and that there is a positive energy that comes from our collective hopefulness. It is unlikely that the normalcy we crave will come overnight, but I truly am hopeful it will get closer to reality in the months ahead.
