Fall Happenings

Longs Creek Reads!

The Longs Creek students are off and reading! The 5th graders are focusing on Literary Genres this year. They have been exploring Science Fiction, Fantasy, Realistic Fiction and many more exciting kinds of reading. The goal is to help them become more aware of the different genres of books and hopefully discover what their own reading preferences are.

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders are busy reading books for this year's Texas Bluebonnet Award. Students who read at least 5 of the 20 books nominated by the end of January will get to vote for which author wins this coveted award. As a bonus, they will also get to come to the Longs Creek Bluebonnet Voting part at school! You can check out the 20 nominees here: Texas Bluebonnet Award

Fall Book Fair

The Fall Book Fair took place Oct. 31st-Nov. 4th and was a great success. Thanks so much for your support. The proceeds we earn from this book fair make it possible to bring in nationally recognized authors and illustrators to present to our students. We also use money raised at the book fair to fund the 4th Grade Battle of the Books, the 2nd Grade Fairy Tale Battle and other reading incentives. Be watching for some new fun furniture in the library, all possible because of your generous support of the book fair!
