Message from the Principal

March 24, 2021

Dear MRE Families,

What a beautiful week of weather we have had. This weather has been a welcome sign of spring. With the warmth and more sunlight later in the day, it gives an uplifting feeling. The excitement of spring also extends to the reopening of school on April 5th. As I walk through the school and talk with students and staff, each expresses their excitement of bringing much of the community together. With many students returning to school, it also brings the nervous excitement many feel in September. April 5th will be a time of transition for all students, in-person and remote students alike. It is essentially similar to the start of a new school year. All students will be combined with new peers. Each classroom will be starting fresh. Because of this teachers will take the two weeks before vacation to help ease this transition for MRE students by resetting classroom expectations, re-establishing classroom culture and strengthening relationships.

This restart is like putting a puzzle back together. We will be focusing on four areas as students return to school. We will focus on community, consistency, connections and stamina. By providing a collaborative environment with strong relationships, consistent focused instruction will help students make solid academic progress during the last quarter of the school year. One other area we will focus on is building stamina for students. They will need to grow their emotional, attention, physical and academic stamina to be successful.

Big picture

On Wednesday, March 31st, students who have not been in the building this year will be able to come visit and tour the school and see their classroom. A schedule will be sent out for this later this week for this visit day.

Bus routes are currently being finalized and will be published on Wednesday, March 31st. There is a potential for bus numbers and routes to change. Check the following website for the update next week..

Mary Rowlandson Elementary Bus Routes

We will be asking all students who have borrowed a Chromebook this year to return them during the week of April 5th. More information about when and how to return them will be provided soon.

Report Cards will be emailed home on April 9th.

One visual symbol for the school getting ready for more students in school are the two large tents that recently went up. These 60x40 tents are placed next to the basketball court for MRE and LBMS students and staff to use. These tents will supplement the other 8 tents the school has for classes.

Big picture

Next week, an updated MRE COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocol document will be shared with all families. The updates will reflect the State and CDC protocol changes that have been published over the past few months.
