Looking for a way to start a conversation with your son or daughter – or their friends -- about vaping and e-cigs? Use this Tip Sheet for Talking to Your Teens about E-Cigs to get informed with facts, and to help open up conversations with your teens about how vaping can impair their health, academics, and general well-being.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teens reports that, in addition to the known risks of vaping or using e-cigarettes like JUUL, there are some other ways vaping can harm a person’s health. Specifically:
- While the chemicals in food flavoring you eat may be safe, inhaling flavors in e-cigarette liquid can be dangerous;
- Heating the e-cigarette liquid can create toxic compounds that are inhaled by the user; and
- When a person vapes, they inhale some of the same harmful ingredients that are also in regular cigarettes, including nicotine, which is very addictive.
This link has short videos of a medical expert who explains these harmful risks of vaping.

On Monday, February 10th, in your child’s AP class(es), teachers will help students “digitally activate” their accounts in their AP class. This will allow students to access resources from College Board. Students will then have until March 1st to decide if they are going to take the AP exam in May. If they choose to take the exam, then they have to register and make payment via MyPaymentsPlus by March 1st. Information regarding MyPaymentsPlus is below and will also be shared with your child in their AP class.
Registration/Deadline: To register for your AP Examinations, please visit www.MyPaymentsPlus.com from Monday, February 3rd through Sunday, March 1st. If you do not already have a My Payments Plus account, follow the on-screen instructions to create one.
If you already have a My Payments Plus account, be sure to “Add” each student who will be taking an AP exam.
When you complete registration you will receive a confirmation number. Please record and save your confirmation number.

If you are no longer able to take an exam for which you have already registered, an email or letter from a parent/guardian to Mrs. Bagnick, our AP Coordinator, in Guidance (Lbagnick@cbsd.org) is required at least 48 hours prior to the exam. Your maximum refund will be $54 per exam.

Physical Exams and Meningitis Immunization
Attention ALL Students:
The State of Pennsylvania requires ALL students in 11th grade to have a physical
completed by a doctor. This physical can be excepted from this date forward (10th grade). Please have your doctor complete the physical form and return it to the health office. If your child is involved in sports in school, that physical will fulfill this requirement.
If your child has not received a second immunization for meningitis; he/she must receive this prior to the beginning of 12th grade. This is a state requirement.
Seniors who have not turned in a physical exam, this is now an obligation. Diplomas will be withheld until proof of a physical exam is completed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
A Message from the Nurse
All the health screenings have been completed for the year. If you did not hear from me separately, you can be assured your child passed the vision testing. Heights, weights, and BMI results can be found on the Parent Portal.
