We did it, we succeeded. This year was an astonishing year, we made mistakes and we learned from them. That's what this year was really about learning from our mistakes. Personally this is a lesson I learned. I've always wanted to be perfect, I did not want to make mistakes, but I realized being perfect is impossible. I think we all learned something this year. I will look back and see this time as remarkable moments in my life.
I would like to acknowledge all the teachers. They have worked extremely hard and they did not only teach us science or math. They also prepared us along with our parents, for what Winston Churchill once said “this is not the end,it is not even the beginning, but it is ,perhaps, the end of the beginning”.
This year we've had so many experiences, but when I look back one of my favorite memories is the two-day field trip. For me, that was such an experience, we laughed, we learned, and it was great seeing everyone having a good time. Looking back, it was more than about walking on a trail or riding the bus. We've made so many memories but to me, the most precious was everyone smile and that's something that I remember forever.
Another transcendent experience I've had at Tuscarora was being part of chorus. The chorus has made me learn how to represent myself through music, but has also taught me more about music and singing. Yes, we did have to wake up early to get to chorus but it was so worth it. Our concerts were one of the most significant moments, when we are all singing together on stage, I could feel power and passion.
I am sad that I'll be leaving the school where I've made many memories, but going to middle school means facing new challenges with family and friends. We’ll be meeting new people and teachers, and I know we can be successful. I want my Future Self to know that facing challenges is a part of life. Wherever you go there's going to be challenges but that’s part of life and growing up. For me ,facing challenges is learning and growing over the years. There will be challenges and there will be things that go wrong but you always have to put your head up.
To close my speech I would like to say this year has been a very amazing year. This pandemic has been hard on all of us and we can all agree that the year 2020 will never be forgotten. It's emotional to know this year is going to end. I start to remember the first day of school and how most of us didn't even know each other and now we all have very special friendship. I hope in the future to meet new people and teachers, but Tuscarora will always be in my heart , Change is amazing sometimes, it can be both in a good way and sometimes in a bad way, but we can always overcome. It’s sad that we won't see each other at graduation, but we can’t just wait around either. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “you can’t climb the ladder of success if your hands are in your pockets”.
Good Morning! 5th grade has truly been remarkable. I bet my other peers would agree with me. Thank you parents and families for joining our ceremony, after this crisis. I am here today to thank our wonderful teachers that have supported us all the way to this moment. I feel excited to move onto the next stage of my life but I will miss everyone I knew here. This school will stay in my heart as long as I live.
One of my favorite memories from TUES was our science field trip. The quarry we went to was truly amazing. There were so many machines and different kinds of minerals. We also got to hike up Sugarloaf MT. Once we got up to the mountain there was a beautiful view of all the little cities around Frederick. Also, we got to see a cool river and our tour guide would tell us that the flood waters would get higher than a cottage, and we were amazed. We also got to smash minerals to have samples of the rocks we learned about. The trip was exciting and best of all, I got to have my best friends here with me the entire time. My friends were one of those friends that you will never find someone like them again. They were so sweet and nice and they always looked out for me, just like I looked out for them.
One of my favorite clubs that I joined was Grit Girls running club. They taught me to be a leader and to persevere, even when I am tired. I also try to persevere with other kids around me who are not feeling good. I also like how every class I find a new goal or adventure to pursue. Another one of my favorite clubs was band and orchestra. I play the clarinet and expect to stick with it. I loved going to band on Fridays and playing with my friends. We played higher leveled songs that I can't stop singing in my head.
I will be sad leaving this amazing school and I will miss everyone I know here, but I know when I go through those doors in middle school, it will be like a new start, but not for me. There is nothing that I want to start over, But everything has to end at one point. I will have new adventures and new teachers, but one of my favorite goals that I have for my future years in school is to be smart, be strong, and never give up. When I go on into my later years in school, I will learn as much as I can, I look forward to being an astronaut, and when I do become one, I will be a future history scientist.
To conclude, all I ever wanted was friends, and this school gave me tons of opportunities, and I did my best. The teachers were nice and they always supported me, and I tried to be the best student I could be. And I will persevere till I reach my goal. And just like what Pamela Starr said, “Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.” And I will reach my goals on what I think is right, to me, my teachers, and my friends.
