Looking Ahead to 2019-20!
As we close the 2018-2019 we also begin to think about the 2019-2020 school. The upcoming year will bring us new faces and we are excited to welcome a few new teachers to Rose Glen for the upcoming year. We are also excited to add a fourth section of fourth grade and fourth section of kindergarten. We will also have four sections at the second grade level. All other grade levels will continue to have three sections. Please feel free to contact us with any questions that you might have for us regarding the teaching configurations at each of the grade levels.
Student placement into classrooms will be shared in mid-August. At the end of the year and throughout the summer teachers spend a significant amount of time determining class placement. Please know that a lot of thought and time goes into planning for classes. Therefore, class placements will be considered final when shared with you in August. We appreciate your support and understanding when it comes to our process for developing classrooms.
5th Grade:
We are excited to welcome a new teacher to our fifth grade teaching team! Ms. Joelle Millionzi will be joining us from Whittier Elementary School. She will be a wonderful addition to our 5th grade team and to our school team.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The end of the school year is quickly coming to a close. As we take a moment to reflect on the year we recognize that all of our students have growth so much and what a celebration it is for our whole school community! Our kids are awesome and we learn just as much from them throughout the school year. Some of our kids best memories from the year come from all the events that take place outside of school hours. These events are always tons of FUN and we always have a FABULOUS turnout for our after hours school events. Below are the key events that took place this year:
Book Fair and Movie Night
Sock Hop
Mother/Daughter or Mother/Son Night
Father/Son or Father/Daughter Night
Movement & Art Social (New to this year!)
Chicken BBQ
Step it Up! (New to this year!)
5th Grade Dinner/Musical
This list is not exhaustive as we also have lots of other activities that volunteers support within the school day and throughout the school year. These include events such as Dining Nights, Spirit Wear, Box Tops, Conference Meals, Math/Book in a Bag, Library Shelving, Lego League, etc.
Our goal is to be able to continue these wonderful family opportunities that have been strong traditions throughout the years. These events have provided families opportunities to connect and enjoy time together outside of the school day. In order to continue these traditions we need your help! Did you know that most of these events were almost canceled this year? Most events were pulled off with the same one or two people taking the lead in the knick of time to save the events so that the fun could continue.
Throughout the years it has become more and more challenging to find individuals or teams of individuals who are willing to lead the events. We completely understand that lives are busy and calendars are packed. We also know that it might be a little scary to think about leading an event and being unsure if you are going to do it ‘right’ or if it will be fun or not. There are also lots of other valid reasons that it just might not be feasible. The PTO Board has taken time to really think about how to best support volunteers and those who are possibly willing to lead events. Therefore, PTO will be sending a list of events that need volunteers for the upcoming school year. We encourage to sign up and consider teaming up with other to lead an event. In order to better support our teams leading the events a PTO member will be designated to help support or assist as needed. The hope is that this takes off some of the pressure that some might feel from leading an event. The PTO member can get you started and answer any questions that you might have. Also recognize there is flexibility when the events can occur. If there are certain times during the year that work better for you then it is highly likely we can make that event work at that time! With the support of a PTO member the goal is to take the guesswork out of leading an event. We are also encouraging volunteers to think about teaming up with a few friends to lead an event! What a fun reason to get together to plan something great for kids!
Soon PTO will be sending out a sign-up for the upcoming events that will need volunteers. We encourage you to consider teaming up with a couple of others to lead an event. Remember - the goal of PTO is to support you and your team in anyway that they can! Every event that any team has planned has been a huge success and memory-maker! Our goal is to have all events filled by the beginning of October. This will allow teams to have ample planning time and be ready to go for the school year. If we cannot get teams to take the lead by October then we will take it as a sign that it is time to move on from the event or the event was not meant to be this year. These events are always well attended and it would be unfortunate if the events did not take place. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for considering to lead one of our fabulous events!
Lost and Found
Please take a look at the items below and let us know if you recognize any of them. As many of you are aware, we tend to accumulate A LOT of lost items throughout the year. Each week we will send a picture of lost items for you to claim. If they are not claimed then we will ensure that they go to a donation center in our area. What is most helpful is if you label your child's clothing and school items. We can then easily identify the item and make sure that the lost item is found and hopefully also save you a trip to have to buy another one. Please label items such as jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunchboxes. Thank you for your help with this and looking forward to year with minimal lost items :) Please email Cathe Sweet at csweet@waukesha.k12.wi.us if you recognize any of the items.
You are welcome to come to school and look through the Lost and Found for your child's belongings, so you don't have to rely exclusively on our pictures.
Please contact us asap because all items will be donated on Friday, June 7th, 2019.
5th Grade Dinner-Parents Needed From Other Grades to Help Out!
The 5th Grade Dinner & Musical is a longstanding tradition at Rose Glen. It is a final celebration for our 5th grade class, with dinner and a musical production by our music teacher, Mrs. Kostreva.
Help is needed for this grand event! We need people (not 5th grade parents) to help up set-up, serve dinner, help with the gift table and clean up, so that the 5th grade parents can enjoy the night with their 5th graders.
