2019 L.I.G.H.T. TEEN SUMMIT
Hope. Encouragement. Empowerment for Teens!
Joining the day will be experts, Kelly Wells, LCSW-C as opening speaker and Tashia Weekes, LGPC from Advanced Behaviorial Health of Prince George's County (ABH), along with session speaker on the Pathway to Positivity: The L.I.G.H.T., Keana Green, BSN, RN,FNE Director and CEO of Amity Healthcare Professionals, LLC
Dr. Dallas, CEO of True Pop Corn and naturopathic doctor, will help participants prepare food that will Nourish to Flourish: Steps to Healthy Eating an interactive session to preparing the right foods that promote physical and mental health! Along with faith-based organizations, Mount Jezreel Baptist Church Youth Ministry Leaders on Body Image and Self-Esteem.
Also featured sessions: Dealing With Depression, Teens and Social Media, Handling Stress, Dealing with Loss and Trauma, Suicide Prevention along with Movement Sessions to Dancing to the Drumbeat: Cultural Healing and Movement under the direction of Brian K. Harris, Artist Director of Sons of Freedom, and learning the benefits of Yoga, with Yoga Instructor Luecretia Mason! Open Mic will be open to help connect spoken words and creative to poetry lead by Dialect of Prince George's County.
A full day lead by Psychologists, Mental Health Teams, Health Professionals, Licensed Social Workers, and motivational speakers coming together to bring a day of empowerment and hope. Come out and be empowered, encouraged, and feel powerful with a purpose.
Session are for ages (13-19), parents/guardians, youth leaders, mentors, and all who want to 2BeMoreAware! Breakfast snacks, lunch and resource fair will be part of the day. 11:00a.m. Grief, Loss and Trauma
11:15a.m. It Is Okay (small group discussion)
11:45a.m. Dancing To The Drumbeat and Yoga & Meditation (these are concurrent sessions)
12:30p.m. Lunch (will be provided)
1:15p.m. Teens and Social Media & Nourish to Flourish (these are concurrent sessions)
1:15p.m. It Is Okay (small group discussion)
2:15p.m. It's Time for Motivation!
2:30p.m. Open Mic! Spoken Word Through Poetry
3:15p.m. Pathway to Positivity (closing words)
When you are not in a session, it is recommended to attend the resource fair. Volunteers will be onsite to answer any questions, assist with registration and provide escorts to session rooms.
