Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
March 3, 2022
Dear Parents,
As we prepare for Terra Nova Standardized Testing to begin this Friday, below you will find tips on how to better prepare your child.
- Make sure your child gets an ample amount of sleep each night before the test.
- Make sure your child eats a nutritious and filling breakfast avoiding high levels of sugar.
- Make sure your child is present and on time for school each day.
- Make sure your child has at least three sharpened pencils with erasers each day.
Make up testing will take place the following week for students who may be absent from school. A proctor will administer the test and the student will be responsible for any missed classwork.
Below are a few important school updates and reminders:
- Due to lack of staffing, the OLGC Cougar Camp will be held off for another year. We had a tremendous amount of interest, however, staffing issues still remain.
- Terra Nova testing begins tomorrow. They will end on Friday, March 11th. Students will test in the morning and a regular class schedule will begin at 11:00 AM each day. Make up testing will be held the week of March 14th.
- This year's Lenten Service Project will benefit Paws with a Cause, a nonprofit organization enhancing the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities through the training of service dogs. Last year our students were able to raise enough money to fund the training of a dog and were later introduced to the person that dog was paired with. Money will be raised through a team Penny Contest.
- School will be closed on Friday, March 18th.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal
