Term 3 Week 9 - 14 September
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Again, the importance of being present to this moment, and appreciating it, is reinforced.
‘Night of the Notables’, an important moment in the Year Five calendar, was an outstanding success. Children inhabited their chosen character in front of sizeable audiences, and were exceptional. Congratulations to all of them, to their families for your support, and teachers Sandra, Lauren and Pat for having them so well prepared.
Thank you Rob Flexman for a great day of sport today! The athletics carnival has been awesome, with every child involved, as well as loads of parents helping in myriad roles. Congratulations to every child for giving of their best. Your determination, effort and being a good sport is what makes the day such a special one.
Art Show, Gym, Sunday, 2-4. Don’t miss it!
Term four draws to a close next week, on Thursday, marked by our end of term Mass at 9.00am. It would be terrific if a big contingent of parents were able to join in too. On the way to Church, why not take a look at the remarkable work of a team of parents, supported by teachers, with materials funded by our HRC, who continue to do amazing things to the Preprimary playground extension. It looks remarkable! Children are congregating at the entrance to that space and are so keen to get in and use it. Check out FB for a video. Thank you, thank you.
Have a great weekend!

PARKING IN DISABLED BAYS IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL
Enough already. There are still people using these bays at the front of the school who do not qualify to do so. Despite being reminded - by staff and parents – not to park there, it is still happening! This behaviour is contrary to the Holy Rosary Code of Conduct. It disrespects people who need these bays to collect children. Do not treat them in this way please. Stay out of the bays. The Ranger has been called in the past and will be called again if need be. People are upset enough to be planning to take the name and shame approach, and to take pictures of offending vehicles to publicise this inappropriate behaviour.
If this is you, you have been warned.
Brightpath: Writing Assessments Term 3, 2018
Staff at Holy Rosary continue to explore new opportunities to provide you with feedback. SeeSaw has been a very successful vehicle for this. In an attempt to build on that feedback, next week we are taking the opportunity to share with you, information about your child’s writing. Writing achievement is a whole school focus for 2018 and the use of Brightpath has aided significantly in developing that focus. Beginning as a trial school in 2016, we are now consolidating the use of Brightpath, and feel confident to share this information with parents. You will receive reports on your child’s writing as well as a copy of the writing the assessment is based on. All this will be hard copy. Coincidentally, the creator of Brightpath is Dr Sandy Helsiger, whose children once attended Holy Rosary. Small world!

LIBRARY NEWS
The Holy Rosary Chess Tournament is over for another year. A huge congratulations to our winners from our senior competition. Jonathan Hie 6D is our 2018 Chess Champion, with Zachary Brearley 6D in 2nd place and David Gardner 5D, in 3rd. Well done to all of you!! A special mention to Bobby Bogos 4C who came 4th. This year we had 3 girls in our final 8 and Stella Ferguson 3C, took out 4th place in our Junior Comp. It has been truly wonderful to see more girls participating in Chess. Thank you to all of our 151 Chess Competitors and our amazing Umpires. We also celebrated Roald Dahl’s birthday this week and have enjoyed rediscovering his classics. Any overdue books must be returned to the library before the holidays. If you have misplaced/damaged a book, please replace it over the holidays so we can get ready for term 4.
Many thanks, Mrs Butson
