Great Job with Parent Teacher Conferences!

Thank you everyone for making our parents feel welcome and for going over their child’s progress with them. These meetings not only help parents to better understand their child’s progress but they also strengthen the relationship of parents and teachers. Please remember your conference folders and all documents are due to Ms. Thomas on Monday, September 28, 2015.

Gracias, Danke, Thanks, Merci to all our bilingual friends who assisted by interpreting during conferences. Gracias a: Laura Todd, Yolanda Lanuza, Leny Villegas, Lies Toribio, Ruby Figueroa and of course our Berkmar students!

The custodians need your help!

Did you know our custodians get evaluated too? During their last “unofficial” evaluation, they got points taken off for the carpets. Breakfast in the classrooms is making our carpets stained and dirty. Please remind your students to be careful with breakfast. If they spill something, they should clean it up. If it is a bad spill, please call for Keith and he will remove the stain. We all need to work together to keep our school clean. During the day, there is only one Keith and over 1300 students and staff. Thanks for your help!

District Support Plan

Schedule at CLT after each session

(Contact your coach with date and they can facilitate.)

Session 1 Monday, Sept. 21: (Video One & Protocol will be posted in BUILT folder in Communities by Sept 29th.)

Session 2 Tuesday, Oct. 27

Session 3 Monday, Jan. 25

Session 4 Monday, Feb. 8

Session 5 Monday, Mar. 7

is coming Oct 3rd from 11-2 on the big playground! We are planning for 184 staff and staff family members. We are hopeful for beautiful weather and a great time to fellowship. This is going to be a really nice event that I hope you all will enjoy. We are renting a big huge tent, tables, and chairs. Our picnic will be catered and a school favorite will be present to share with our families. Feel free to bring your sports gear, board games, bubbles, or whatever family fun you want to share with the staff. Please bring your outside chairs and blankets for extra comfort and space if you don’t want to sit under the tent. This is going to be AWESOME!

What do I need for data conversations?

  • Benchmark Database Completed: All August sections that apply, SPG- Pre (If applies), Sept data for running records (if applies-this is recorded in F&P section)
  • Data Protocol

Update on small playground

The swings are open J Please establish some “swing rules”. For example: sitting on bottom, students should wait for turn outside perimeter so no one gets hurt, swing back and forth, not twisting chains, etc. Let’s teach our children how to use them properly before using them.

We will continue to add a couple more items to the little playground when we raise more money. Encourage your students to bring in more BOX Tops so we can keep adding.

We are listening!

Please continue to share your perception of our school. Is it really anonymous? YES IT IS! Since it is anonymous, we really can’t follow up when we don’t know specific situations (who, what, when, where, etc.). If you post something and want results, please be as specific as you can, otherwise the situation will continue. Remember, you can come and talk to any of us in confidence. We are here for you and genuinely want the best work environment.

Just like relationships, positive school climate takes work…hard work…we all want the same thing, so let’s work together to get there. Share your thoughts here Click Here to Open or face to face (always best way to communicate).

Remember our Focus

Analyzing the Standards (Stay true to the standard)

Building Capacity (Lifelong Learner)

Conquering the Workshop Model

Stay on Pacing (Super important)

(Master this first and then continue to build capacity to add on.)

eCLASS Teacher Usage: (and possible errors in reporting)

Bethesda friends, we are making steady improvements with the county eCLASS initiative. Our teacher log in numbers outperform the cluster and district averages. The student usage percentage has increased weekly and been above the elementary school average for the past three weeks. For your information, we receive a weekly report specifically of individual teacher usage of eCLASS. This report shows how many times a teacher has logged in for the week and how many minutes the teacher has spent in eCLASS. This past week Jazlyn Wright, Nikki Fidero, and Kim Peterson had the most time logged in eCLASS. Kudos to you all!

As we celebrate, we realize they you all may be spending more time in eCLASS than we have knowledge of.

PLEASE READ TO FIND OUT WHY.

If you are logged into eCLASS and you access an area, but you don't access other areas and you allow the computer to sit...if it logs you out, the system does not record that time that you were logged in. You must be actively using eCLASS for it to record your usage. We thought this might be useful as you are using eCLASS more regularly. Many of you are taking risks with technology in your class and utilizing the resources here at the school. You're promoting BYOD in your classrooms, and we appreciate all your efforts. If you want support in technology you can reach out to Michelle Claudon (LSTC), Stacy Mckibben (eCLASS Cluster Coach), and Whitney Lulic as your first line of technology support.
