Book Summary

Jonas lives in a world of conformity and no colors. When he begins to spend time with The Giver, an old man who keeps the community's memories, Jonas discovers the dangerous truths of his community's past. Now, with the power of knowledge, Jonas realizes that he must escape from the community to protect himself and those he loves.


Jonas, The Main character, is a passionate, Sensitive, and polite 12 year old kid. Jonas is chosen to be the next Receiver of Memory, whose job is to carry the burden of all the memories of the past and the community...but after he gains wisdom from memories. He realizes that people gave up their freedoms for Sameness and becomes angry and frustrated. During his training, Jonas learn and acquires very deep emotional feelings. He becomes a close friend of The Giver and decides to risk his own life to save the citizens in his community.

Overall Rating

I rate this book 3 and 1/2 stars,honestly there isn't much i don't like about this book I'd even give it 4 stars but, in my opinion I didn't like how the book ended. It was to much of a cliff hanger.But overall it was a good book.
