Seniors: Mark your calendars! Join us on Tuesday, October 25th from
7:30am-3:00pm in the Learning Commons for our annual College Application Planning Workshop!

Paying for College Night - Virtual and In-Person Sessions Available!
“Paying for College - An Introduction to Financial Aid and the College Decision Process” will be held virtually the evening of Wednesday, October 12th at 6pm (Central) and in-person at Eastview High School in the Student Commons the evening of Monday, November 14th at 6:30pm.
This will be a one-hour presentation on how financial aid is determined, the financial aid application process, sources of financial support, borrowing, and private scholarships.
Audience participation is encouraged through polling and a Q&A to address broad questions about the process. The presenter will be Chris George, who is currently the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at St. Olaf College.

October is Minnesota State Month - No Application Fees!
For the entire month of October, students can apply for FREE to one or more of the 26 state colleges and seven state universities of Minnesota State.
It’s a great way for you to save some money and get started on the journey to your dream career!

Registration for PSAT is Full
Registration for the PSAT exam is full. Students may have their name placed on a waiting list. If you would like to have your student's name added to the waitlist, please contact Suze Fulford in the Counseling Office at susanne.fulford@district196.org or at 952-431-8915. If a testing seat opens up, we will contact your student and add them to the testing roster.
Students who have already registered can come to the Counseling office during their 5th period to pick up their PSAT Official Student Guide. This guide has important PSAT Information, Test-taking advice and tips and an official practice test.
Your students EVHS test site location will be communicated via email and Schoology by Friday, October 7th, 2022.

Dakota County Technical College Transportation Showcase
Dakota County Technical College is proud to announce that they will be hosting their Transportation Showcase on Wednesday, November 16th from 8:30-1:30pm on the DCTC campus.
The Transportation Showcase is designed to create an environment where local business partners, college and high school educators, and current and potential students can interact face to face to generate greater interest in careers in the transportation industry. They have invited numerous industry partners to bring some of their coolest vehicles, equipment, and products to our campus to show off some of the new technologies that their graduates experience daily as technicians.
You are invited to see their campus, visit with faculty and current students, and tour their Automotive Technology, Auto body Collision, GM ASEP, Heavy Duty Truck, and Heavy Equipment Technology programs. Lunch will be provided. There will be raffles and giveaways throughout the event. These events give industry partners, current students, and prospective students a chance to network with each other and explore potential employment opportunities and career pathways.
Space is limited space for this event and they can only guarantee participation for the first 300 students to sign up.

Senior College Planning Meetings with Counselors
Counselors met with all seniors during social studies classes to provide valuable information regarding post-high school planning.

Experience MN- U of MN
Experience Minnesota is a high-energy, once-a-year event that gives students (Seniors to Freshman) the chance to experience how, as a U of M student, they can expand their horizons, discover new passions, and accomplish their dreams. Ready, Set, FAFSA! Free financial aid events available to Minnesota students and families this fall!
Free financial aid events are available to Minnesota students and families via Zoom. The series, running on Tuesday evenings, September 27 through October 25, is intended for current high school students and families.
The sessions will cover general information about the college application and financial aid process, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.
All sessions will have interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees can ask questions in the chat and have them answered during the event by financial aid experts.
Students who attend any of the sessions will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 scholarship (one entry per session attended).
Space is limited so register soon! These sessions are offered by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC The College Place and Minnesota Goes to College.

The online registration deadline for the November 5th SAT and SAT Subject Tests is October 7th. Visit www.sat.org/register to register.

School Supplies Available for EVHS Students in Need
If your student needs supplies, please send them to the Counseling Office. We have supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, padlocks for gym lockers, pocket folders, graphing paper, index notecards and more. We also have new backpacks!
Eastview High School Virtual Calm Room
Park Nicollet's Growing Through Grief Support Group
Park Nicollet’s Growing Through Grief counselor, Jenny Simmonds, will be offering a weekly grief group for Eastview students who have experienced the death of a significant family member (parent, sibling, caregiver, etc.). If your teen is living with loss and you think they could benefit from participating in a grief group, please contact Molly Wellik at molly.wellik@district196.org and we will connect with your student regarding their interest.
