Westmoor Update
~~~"A place where a student can dream, plan and achieve!"~~~
Week of March 22nd
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Westmoor Learning Community,
I am so proud of our students. I know they truly want to do well. They have been put in a unique position, without much preparation, into a new learning platform called Distance Learning. Some have adapted quickly while others struggled with all the nuances of learning via a computer screen. I continue to be amazed at our students as they share their experiences and work towards finding solutions for their particular challenges.
I will miss Westmoor. I will forever treasure the moments we shared together. It is strange that something as simple as walking down a hallway and watching a staff member eating yogurt between classes is now a fun memory. Students saying hello and trying to get to class before the tardy bell. Life as we know it will resume and for now let's all do our part to make it happen.
Dream and Achieve,
Principal Grace Strickland
A Message from Principal Strickland
Dear Westmoor Community,
It is with a mix of sadness and optimism that I write to inform you of my decision to step down as principal at the end of this school year.
I do not have to tell you that Westmoor is a special place, nurtured by an extraordinarily talented staff and the most supportive parents and caregivers. My time as principal has represented a high point for me personally and professionally. I remain fully committed to ensuring that Westmoor's students and staff have a safe, productive, and fulfilling end to this school year.
It has been a pleasure to serve this learning community and the students of Westmoor, and though goodbyes are always difficult, I am confident that the next principal will be well-suited to continue the great legacy at Westmoor. Our district plans to seek input from the community to ensure the next principal has the desired leadership traits to build on our successes and continue our upward academic trajectory, and I will be available to ensure a smooth transition for my successor.
In the meantime, we still have several months to go before wrapping up this unprecedented school year, and there are still a few more events to plan. As always, I thank you for your support. Let's continue to dream and achieve.
Sincerely,
Grace Strickland
Principal
Message from the JUHSD District Superintendent
Dear JUHSD Community,
I am writing with a heavy heart to firmly condemn the horrific incidents of anti-Asian hatred and
violence across the United States and locally. JUHSD stands in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) families, and we denounce these acts of racism, hate and xenophobia against the AAPI community. These incidents are unconscionable, and we must stand together to put an end to them.
