Message from Principal Masone

Dear Families:

I am beyond thrilled to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year at MSES. We have an amazing year ahead of us.

Tomorrow, Thursday is Back to School/Meet Your Teacher, August 18, 3-5pm. Visit your child's classroom from 3-4pm. This is a time to drop off materials, find your child's desk and cubby and meet your child's teacher. You will have plenty of time to visit more than one classroom and our exploratory classrooms: Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Art and TEAMS. Join us and our staff for our outdoor, 100 year celebration with live music together with our community partners. You can sign up for after school childcare with Champion's Childcare. You can also sign up for Connect 14 classes, learn more about Kidpower, Girl Scouts and more.

The first day of school for grades 1-5 is August 19th! Kindergartners have a staggered, "gentle" start, and the first full day of school for kindergarten only is August 24th. Preschool begins on August 31st with a preschool open house on August 29th.

Morning drop off begins at 7:45am and our school day ends at 2:50pm. If you need after school childcare, please see the Champions flyer below.

Morning drop off can get congested. If you would like to park your vehicle and bring your child into the school building, you have two options. You can park across the street in the Congregational Church parking lot from 7:30-8:05am. You may also park at the Wichita Lot from 7:30am-8:05am and/or drop off your child at the Wichita (parking)Lot at the corner of Manitou Avenue and Pawnee Ave. Beginning Friday, you can drop off your student prior to 7:45 am at the Wichita Lot and parent volunteers will walk your child to school. This avoids the congestion in front of the school.

Important dates:

  • Meet Your Teacher, August 18
  • Grades 1-5 begin, August 19
  • Kindergarten begins, August 24
  • Preschool Open House August 29
  • Preschool begins, August 31

You should have received the name of your child's teacher. If you have not, pleases contact the front office at 719-685-2195.

On behalf of the talented staff at Manitou Springs Elementary School and Manitou Springs School District, we are excited to serve you and your child. This school year you will see some new faces, a lot of familiar faces, a new math curriculum, Eureka Squared, and a dedicated team of professionals ready to grow with you.
