Principal's Message

Greetings Sunny Heights Families,

The announcement this week that K-12 schools would be going virtual was one we certainly did not want to hear, but understand the decision was made with the health and safety of everyone in mind. Schools moving to all virtual instruction is a challenge in many ways for our students, staff, and families. I assure you that the staff at Sunny Heights and MSD of Warren Township is working very hard to provide the highest quality of instruction that we can at this time. We will vigilantly monitor our situation and make adjustments as needed to support our school family. Stay tuned to continued communication from the district and from Sunny Heights via email, phone messaging, and newsletters.

As always, do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

Please stay safe and healthy!

Your PROUD Principal,

Bart Lewis

Second Quarter Learning Option Change Request

We are getting ready for our next transition! For those families wanting to transition their classroom environment from in-person to virtual or visa-versa, the window will be open from Nov 13 to Dec 7th @3PM.This will be the last opportunity to change the classroom environment for the 2020-2021 school year. The decision families make will be for the entirety of 2nd semester (3rd and 4th quarters). It is important that families communicate their desired transition as soon as the window opens. We recommend that you inform your schools as soon as possible so that we can begin planning for your students’ needs.

Warren Parents and Caregivers, here is the link to our Student Success Handbook. This handbook is updated every year to include information about how we keep students and staff safe at school, along with resources for families to access as well as information on district procedures and policies. This handbook is also shared with students. Please take a moment to review and complete this as acknowledgement that you have received the handbook. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Technology Help Desk Update

Beginning Monday, October 26th the Moorhead technology help desk will move to door 11 at the rear of the building located near the playground. Please drive through the gate on the west side of the building and, after parking, enter door 11 for assistance. The Technology team will keep the same hours for the help desk: Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 11am to 1pm.

ALL STUDENTS - ATTENDANCE

For the 2020-2021 school year, Warren Township has transitioned to a new student information system called Synergy allowing our parents and caregivers to have improved access to school information through the parent portal called ParentVUE. We are aware that at this time some students’ attendance records are reflecting students are absent, when in fact they were present. This is mostly the case for our students who are attending school VIRTUALLY on application days or in the VIRTUAL opinion full-time. We want to assure you that teachers are keeping accurate attendance records and that we are working to correct attendance records for all our students.

BLACK AND GOLD VIRTUAL SCHEDULE

PBIS Weekly Focus @ Sunny Heights Elementary

This week our students are focusing on recognizing students that show EXCELLENCE throughout the day. Excellence is shown when students put forth their best effort in any situation, especially difficult or challenging situations. We want Sunny Heights to be a place where everyone is valued, respected, and strives for their own excellence.

Updated Lunch Menu

Here is the Updated Lunch Menu from Chartwell's. Starting Monday, students will get a choice of a hot or cold entree!

School District Publications/News Media Use

The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognition if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
