The Wolf Howl

Week of 4/8/16

One to One is Coming!

I am very excited about the roll-out of our one-to-one technology initiative next year. Here are some facts:

  • Each student will receive a Dell Latitude 3150
  • Laptop is 11 inches and weighs about 3 pounds
  • Student computers will be distributed on Wed, 9/7
  • Students will pay a $50 fee to take the computer home - $35 for free and reduced lunch. This fee will be paid only one time in students' middle school career.
  • School fundraiser will be a computer protective sleeve
  • We will participate in on-going professional development to fully utilize these devices.
  • We will have several parent informational meetings prior to distribution.

Janie Stach will be visiting our PLCs in the near future, so bring your questions and your comments to these PLC's!

Summer PD Opportunities are Coming!!

We anticipate the district "catalog" of summer professional development offerings to be coming soon. Don't forget, each teacher of PAP or Accelerated classes must have 30 hours of GT training with 6 hour updates each year. Please see me if you are questioning whether or not you need these hours. Please keep good records of all your trainings - it is part of your professional growth responsibilities!

Four Weeks Until Bond Election

The GCISD Bond Election is called for May 7, 2016. Early voting is April 25 - May 3. The bond information site at http://www.gcisdbond2016.com/ gives you great information about the scope of the proposed bond.

Remember that we can neither advocate for or oppose the bond as district employees, but can express our opinions when we are off campus and clearly in the role as a parent or community member.

Library open!

Please encourage your students who need to make up work or need to use the computer to take advantage of the library being open from 3:25- 4:25 each day. Ilia mans the library, so our Spanish speakers in particular can take advantage of this extra help. Anna can help you call parents to arrange after school time if needed.
