Your Wins?
How often do we take time or make the opportunity to just take a moment and take stock of all that we have accomplished this year? I'm willing to bet that, individually and together, we have a long list, but with all that is going on daily, it is so easy for us to pick something that we did not accomplish to focus on. Remember this as well: just because we didn't get a win on something doesn't mean that it is a loss.
Here are a few of the wins for our school that I was able to think of:
*OUT OF DEBT for the first time in at least 15 years!
*The school is inviting and friendly, and you can feel it the moment you walk in the door.
*Though we have students with chronic attendance issues, when we started to track attendance, we realized that our overall attendance is better than we thought.
*Our greatest behavior issues have been taken care of. Many students that were at LMS on school choice but not complying with the conditions of school choice are no longer with us. We have placed a focus on taking care of the folks in Liberty.
*We have realized that we have an issue with over age students and are now working together as a system of schools in our community to create a solution for this, in order to help our students secure a better future.
*We are working together, as a team, to make LMS a better place each and every day.
*Our community is supportive of our school!
*Nearly $6,000 was donated to the school by friends, family and strangers from across the country, and one other country, to help us take our students to see Wonder.
*The Liberty Lions Club donated funds to pay off all students' lunch accounts before the Christmas break.
*8th grade students had their poems published in an anthology through Scholastic.
*Our instructional program is strengthening each day!
*The most recent test scores for LMS showed amazing growth!
*We are building and continue to work towards building strong relationships with each other, our students, parents and community.
All of the things that I have listed here are BIG things for our school. And, no doubt, the list is incomplete. But don't forget, we have a long list of wins with individual students on a daily basis. As we move towards the final stretch of the year, don't allow yourself to get pulled down by the things that we aren't winning. Focus on all of the good that we have done this year!
I am beyond proud to be a part of the Liberty Middle Family, and I cannot wait to see what we do together between now and the end of the school year and well into the future!

Teacher Survey
The directions for completing the survey are below. Please be reminded that this survey is completely ANONYMOUS. The survey results are sent to the district in an excel spread sheet with percentages for each answer. Survey results are also reported as percentages on the school report card.
https://ed.sc.gov/surveys/teacher-survey/
You will need the school BEDS code for this: 3901030.
This survey should be completed by guidance counselors, media specialists, speech therapists, and teachers.
All teachers should complete this by Sunday April 15. It should not take more than 10 minutes.
The Every Student Succeeds Act established the school report card system. The ESSA requires that a survey of teachers, students, and parents be undertaken for inclusion on each school report card. The teacher survey must be completed by all teachers under contract as well as guidance counselors, media specialists, and speech therapists working in the public schools of South Carolina.
ESSA Student Engagement Survey - NEW THIS YEAR!
ESSA now requires that all students that are currently enrolled in our school and were enrolled on the 90th day of school to participate in a Student Engagement Survey. Unlike the report card survey that only 8th grade students participate in, this survey is required to be administered to all grade levels.
Lisa will be meeting with the science and social studies teachers this week to discuss the administration of this survey. You can find the dates for the administration listed in the Upcoming Dates portion below.
PLEASE COMPLETE
Please complete this by Friday.
