Book Sorting - Sept. 10th

Literacy Volunteers of Upshur County needs help sorting books for their upcoming book sale. Volunteers will meet to sort books alphabetically and into categories.

WE LEAD Sustainability Japanese Stiltgrass Pull - Sept. 12th

A handful of volunteers are needed to pull Japanese stiltgrass, an invasive species, down by the riverwalk trail at WVWC. Gloves and bags will be provided. You can bring a water bottle, but we also have extras. Volunteers can meet in the Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development (behind the Bobcat Den on the second floor of the campus center) at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 12th. The work will last until approximately 11-11:30 am. If you'd like to participate, please sign up here or email Mark Leadingham II at leadingham_mp@wvwc.edu.

Helvetia Fair - Sept. 12th

Volunteers spend the day in the town of Helvetia for their annual fair. Some tasks that are completed throughout the day include float setup, making signs at the library, supervising the bounce house, making and serving food in the kitchen, and other miscellaneous tasks. Fun, Friends and a Fixer-Upper - Sept. 12th

New Community church is having a work day to fix up a house that needs some work done to it. Most of the work will be outside and consist of mainly yard work. Wear old clothes and gloves if you have them. There will be food provided along with information on other service opportunities in the area. Please email Thomas Haines at haines_ta@wvwc.edu if you are planning to come so that we can get an approximate head count and get you more information sooner to the date.

Upshur County Children's Festival - Sept. 19th

Come spend a day at Stockert helping at the Children's festival! You could run a table with your organization, run activities with for the kids, help set up before the event, and help take down everything after the event is over. Volunteers have the ability to sign up as a group or sign up as individuals.

Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development

The Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development seeks to support the mission of West Virginia Wesleyan College by providing opportunities for transformative learning and community engagement with the intent to promote positive social change.


We're located on the second floor of the Benedum Campus Center behind the Bobcat Den retail store.
