What is Esthetics?

Jackson Area Career Center and the Cosmetology program are offering our pilot program; Esthetics!

Becoming an Esthetician includes training in skin care treatments such as:

Facial Treatments
Makeup Applications
Hair Removal Services

YOU COULD BE A LICENSED ESTHETICIAN IN ONE YEAR!

Complete 400 hours of training at Jackson Area Career Center
Pass a State Practical and Theory exam to obtain licensure

During our 400 hour program, you will gain knowledge in advanced skin care topics, soft skills such as identifying career opportunities, how to build and market your business as a licensed esthetician, and on the job shadowing for career readiness.

Also covered in our curriculum is State Board testing preparation where we practice and study for the State licensure exams together!

Hi! I'm Mrs. Sumner and I will be your Esthetics instructor.

I'm so excited and eager to learn and GLOW with you!

I have been licensed in Cosmetology since 2016 and I'm a former Career Center graduate! I'm excited to be able to offer my knowledge in Esthetics to expand our program's variety in the beauty industry.

Estheticians are licensed in skin care treatment and services. Along our journey to licensure we will be gaining knowledge in soft skills to help build your business & career, foundational skills that help keep us and our guests safe such as infection control, laws & rules in our industry, and how to maintain our professional image. Last but certainly not least, we will cover chapters on what makes us THE professional like anatomy, skin disorders & diseases, massage techniques, skin devices & treatments, proper make up applications, hair removal procedures, and even chemistry & electricity!

Becoming a beauty icon is a wonderful profession but it requires a desire and hunger for learning and education.

MAKEUP ESSENTIALS

Gain knowledge in cosmetic color theory, perform makeup application techniques, learn techniques in applying artificial eyelashes, and tinting eyebrows and eyelashes.

FACIALS

Perform facial treatments, acne treatment procedures, and gain knowledge in men and women's skin care. Discover new devices and technology associated with electrotherapy.

HAIR REMOVAL

Learn proper techniques and procedures for facial and body waxing. Learn the structure of hair and it's growth cycles. Discover differences in permanent vs. temporary hair removal and hard vs. soft waxes.

Esthetics Class Syllabus

Once you are enrolled into the Esthetics program, you will receive a syllabus that contains our programs dress code, strict attendance policy, rules & guidelines, covered textbook segments, and more!

Online Resources

Jackson Area Career Center utilizes Schoology. You will use this online learning platform in our Esthetics Course. In Schoology you will find lesson plans for each week, chapter notes, educational links, and all class assignments.
